Just goes to show that our fascistic government never had to resort to forcing the population to receive a subcutaneous tracking device nor a bar code on the surface of the skin. That would have been too controversial and there would have been far too much resistance and push back on that idea.
So all they needed to do was to create a neato, super cool thing called a personal Smart phone. Smart phones are very sophisticated. They are basically miniature super computers capable of doing many different things all at the same time. They have built in GPS tracking which permanently stores all of the owners movement / travel. Grocery store? got it. Doctors office or Dentist? got it. Gun store, porn shop, gas station...got it. Visit your mom in Toledo? tracked all the way and got every stop and detour!
The Smart phone records your shopping habits and your eating and drinking habits. It "checks you in" wherever you may stop in to eat, drink, play...It makes a permanent record of your hourly, daily patterns. Your "friends" on Face Book, the things you type on social media sites.
Face it folks. We have not only voluntarily but happily given away our 4th and 5th amendment Rights:

This kind of gov't oversight is no longer restricted to the Smart phone. Of course out cars and trucks have GPS tracking devices. Then there are now "smart" appliances. So that the government knows your viewing preferences - Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right and Apocalyptic themed movies? check.
Shows with "conservative" political content? noted.

I trashed my Fitbit because it even knows when you’re sleeping. Not having that… nope.
"Yes" on all counts. It (cell phone) is being useful today, since I am traveling alone on secondary roads in the snow and spending the night at a rest area on my way to visit my 86 year old father in another state. Nothing has gone as planned, so the intrusive beast has helped me to adjust to reality.
@DMcCreery1956 I know the technology is indispensable and I wonder how we ever got along without it...but it is being used by people and organizations as the perfect tracking device for all members of the general population - and for nefarious reasons..
