Democrats are hasty with history. They think that preseason rankings are etched in stone, and that there's not need to play the games. They cancel games.
Rankings are boring. Games are exciting.
The history book will say:
Once upon a time, Donald and Melania Trump stepped onto an escalator and rode from the top to the bottom. They were surrounded by beautiful brass, marble, and waterfalls.
Upon arriving at the bottom, Trump announced that he is running for president.
Not long earlier, Trump read Ann Coulter's book "Adios America". The book became fuel for Trump's campaign.
Coulter is a master psychologist. Coulter understands Maga America well, and Democrats don't understand it at all. We give thanks to Coulter for writing it down.
Democrats whiffed on Coulter, and Trump saw her wisdom. Coulter threw a good ball and Trump caught it.
Thomas Paine is a master psychologist, and his writings made Americans feel. They furthermore motivated Americans to fight.
Republicans would fight for Trump. Would anyone fight for Biden?
Can anyone think of more epic works that depict how patriotic Americans feel?
Would anyone like to write an article for the proper history book?
There is a show for children with a fictionalized re-enactment of the Revolutionary War, called "Liberty's Kids".

Yes, Democrats understand neither Republicans nor themselves. Republicans understand themselves and they also understand Democrats. This is a fundamental asymmetry between Republicans and Democrats.

The Democratic party is a coalition of greedy tribes. The Republican party is a coalition of people that oppose greedy tribes. Republicans see anti-greed as virtue, and Democrats are incapable of appreciating this virtue. In Democratstan, greed is virtue.
The greedy Democrat tribe coalition is held together by only one thing: Hate of Republicans.

The English strategy is to look for nails that stick out, and nail them down. England identifies the most powerful nation in continental Europe, and builds a coalition to nail it down. Republicans should tap the English strategy.
