Is it wrong to pigeonhole people and judge them not according to their personal merits and actions, but according to the label of the pigeonhole?
Most people intuitively would say: of course that's wrong. That's what racism, sexism and other -isms are about: you belong to group X, therefore you are worthy or unworthy, morally superior or inferior etc...
That's exactly what liberals and progressives would have agreed upon two or three decades ago.
Then came the postmodern turn with its identity culture and politics.
Then came the ideology of intersectionality.
And now it's fashionable again to pigeonhole people and judge them according to the labels attached to those pigeonholes.
The whole world is divided into two main classes: what used to be the bourgeoisie versus the proletariat in Marxist doctrine has been replaced by the dichotomy "oppressed vs. oppressors". Nobody can escape; you and me and everybody else is either an oppressor or an oppressed. And your personal deeds are totally irrelevant when it comes to putting you in one of these two groups.
The decision is made, just as it used to be in racism or sexism or homophobia, according to characteristics you did not choose and of which you have no control: your color of skin, your sex, your sexual orientation.
Are they serious? Do they really believe to build a better world by using the old categories, just inverting the moral hierarchy ? What used to be oppressed and despised 50 years ago is now celebrated and morally superior, and vice versa? Anybody with a modicum of common sense can see that the only effect of this revenge will be (and already is) a socio-cultural backlash; justice and injustice have just changed places and the moral hierarchy has been turned upside down, but the whole rotten structure is still in place, underpinned by self-righteousness and tribal instincts.

Nevermind that the "Right" likes to claim having the mere existence of an LGBTQ+ character in a movie, even for less than one second (like in Lightyear) is "shoving woke ideology down your throat" and labels anyone who acknowledges the existence of LGBTQ+ people as "groomers". Or that anyone who doesn't kneel down and kiss the ring of Trump, like Liz Cheney who voted in lock-step with Trump over 90% of the time but made the unforgivable mistake of acknowledging Trump lost the 2020 election, must be a RINO and is part of the global elite trying to destory society. Or that anyone who wants to discuss a solution to gun violence that doesn't equate to "thoughts and prayers" or "mandatory Jesus" is a radical Marxist trying to steal guns.

I don't hang around in the LGBTQ++ community so I profile them alot. Just like you profile conservatism or the right.
The gay community is quite artistically creative, for instance. They create art and music, are inventive. Sometimes, disappointedly, to where gayness becomes the statement to the rest of society.
This indicates a resentment and is not really helpful to the social acceptance of the gay community.
Obviously, social acceptance is not part of the equation in such cases. It seems more an in your face statement and they would prefer the complete redesign of society with as much damage as possible to the extant social structure. The seeds of that resentment may exist to a degree in every gay's mind and it is probably the reason I avoid forming anything other than a stand off relationship with them. They are not harmless but, it must be said, there are destructive personalities in the heterosexual community as well.They aren't necessarily easy to profile so it is harder to detect them We just have to find out more before we praise or condemn. And I think that is the purpose of the post to not generalize until we have more information. The generalization has to suffice until we do though.
Generally, being gay is something that gay people think straight people will disapprove of or resent so they hide it. Socially it was considered morally perverse up until recently. Now it is supposed to be an allowable and legal alternative lifestyle. Most people do tolerate it but, like myself, still don't understand the proclivity.
All my opinion of course. Full of generalities and not specifics.
Yes, it's the straw man fallacy. Leftists put words into the mouths of conservatives. They put thoughts into their heads. Then leftists make accusations and ignore due process, and don't give the accused the chance to defend themselves, or confront the accuser.
I see Democrats on forums posting that Maga is a cult. Straw man foul.
A Republican need only say: Maga is a cool party, and you're missing out.

You are assuming that we have something upon which we can judge others. We only have what we can sense and observe and what we have already experienced.
We are not supposed to pigeonhole anyone because that is racist, sexist...blah blah blah.
We judge according to what we can observe and/or have experienced or been taught. We can all be pre-judgmental due to this. We can pigeonhole people or profile them. This is vilified today. We cannot be pre-judgmental about certain characteristics.
We judge based upon information. Preliminary information may not be adequate but it is all we have. Until we have additional information to process we must be able to use what data we have and act accordingly. All that pigeonholing is, is acting on general information and not inconclusive information.
We can't wait for conclusive information in every instance or we place ourselves in danger.
Thus, I conclude it is not wrong to pigeonhole individuals at least until their personal merits and actions are known.

It is a very important life skill to learn what to expect in general terms of other people.
You have a certain expectation from a cop, a teacher, a nurse, a child, an European, an American.
Those are not strong expectations but general ones.
Then we adjust that to specific individuals based on what they do and secondly what they say.
That creates a stronger expectation and not general.
The left has basically abandoned the distinction between “judgment,” which is based on rationality, and “prejudice,” which is based on emotion. I’m noticing the left relies on emotion to support their positions and has no patience with rational argument.

The left are narcissistic, so a lot of the left's emotions are fake. Fake outrage, fake greivances, fake empathy, fake righteousness, fake victimhood etc. They fake emotions to manipulate. What is real is their anger, envy and jealousy, paranoia and depression, their desire to win at all costs (anything less will cause them shame), their vengefulness and spitefulness. These people are glib and their only joy comes from tearing down everything that's good - because it reminds them of everything they can't be. And that's why they can't stand when the mirror is held up for them to see their own reflection.
