The attack on the Russian underwater pipeline? Internationally a very BIG no no! What is underwater world wide? Cables and pipelines supplying the world with communications and energy and they are all very very vulnerable. Russia's infrastructure is very much within their boarders the rest of the world "Not so much" and Russia is already isolated. So whoever did this hasn't thought this trough. What happens if all these lines go down? World wide pandemonium.

The pipeline is below amature diving depths. It's encased in concrete. It's not an easy target to anyone with less than national resources.

Russia has been dangling restoration of energy supplies to anyone who stops supporting Ukraine. Now they can't restart gas deliveries even if they wanted to. I guess that might consolidate support for Ukraine.

The whole world depends on a vulnerable web of electronic connections. My uneducated guess is that a coordinated hit on a couple of dozen points in the US electric distribution grid would utterly cripple the US economy.

The grid was re-designed after the 1965 blackout of the Eastern seaboard of the US. It now has a smart network of sensors capable of responding fast enough to isolate local breakdowns, so they can no longer take down the larger system. That network is very resistant to tampering.

Today is the first I heard about something going on with the deep sea pipeline. What - did it get hit with explosives? Does anyone know for certain that it wasn't damaged by a natural event like shifting of the tectonic plates or deep sea earthquake? How extensive is the damage and has the flow of fuel (natural gas? is that right?) been closed off pending repair?
Does that particular pipeline belong to Russia exclusively? Where in the sea did this happen? Black sea? Caspian Sea? Atlantic or North Atlantic? How and when was it discovered and what if any damage has been done to marine life and does it present real danger or peril to human beings at this time?
