Just thinking about democracy and its forms. Representative democracy is failing. (Election fraud, Money in politics, World Hegemony, Greed and lust for Power all have perverted Representative Democracy)
So lets change it! In ancient Athens only those who have completed military service were allowed to vote. I would take that a step further and make that veterans. Also any governing bodies should have a mandatory majority of veterans as law makers. If a war was likely then veterans would move heaven and earth for a diplomatic solution. Who better to care for the good of the citizen than those who shed blood and life to protect the people. Lets rid ourselves of the Politician.

not really - the failure is on the people who have corrupted it. It is inarguably clear that the most successful, most productive political system ever created is the example of USA - Representative and democratic republic coupled with free market capitalism.

I agree with you but everything must evolve and the signs are abundant that the powerful are perverting the system for personal gain. Without doubt this system has done far more good than evil. Now might be the time for small changes to keep it as honest as possible. What improvements would you suggest.
@wolfhnd, @Arty I suggest NO changes to the body of laws much less the style of the political ideals that inform our laws and economic philosophy.
What needs changing is the shameful failure to punish those who break the law and foment corruption and social disturbances using hateful rhetoric.
We do NOT need new or different laws - we desperately need new leadership. But we won't get it - the downward spiral of Western Culture is gaining momentum. I'm glad I won't live long enough to see its total collapse.
@Arty The lawmakers - aka the legislative branch of the federal gov't is without question corrupted. But we cannot afford to ignore the willful failure to enforce law and to act against law breakers on the part of those who are assigned the task of enforcement. The Justice Dept is at the very least complicit in the rampant criminal activities that go on. All three major branches of the Federal gov't (regardless which of the two major political parties in in charge) will never be held accountable for as long as the press (news and information orgs) fails to expose their malfeasance.
There are people who paid their dues that were not in the military!!!!!
Being in the military does not alway mean you have paid your dues, either!!!!!!
I wore a badge and a gun, pretty much 24/7, for almost thirty years!!!!

I also agree with you! Those put in charge of a country must have the knowledge of consequences of actions made by governments. Those with front line experience of decisions made by governments have to have input and power to change laws made for the good of the citizen. That would include Law enforcement, Emergency medicines and Firemen, probably more. My intention was to get those involved in real world problems to think about how Democracy could be improved. Politicians usually are not those people and We see the result in the world today. Your points are well taken. Democracy can be improved but it needs those who move in the real world. (Unfortunately these people do not want this power! All the better!)
