It isn't "mainstream" - it is deviant, antisocial behavior. This person is obviously psychologically disturbed and is doing and saying the most outrageous things in order to get attention.
The media and popular culture drones want us to think there are thousands and thousands of people like the one here. There aren't.
This is not mainstream but the majority of the "not crazy" population either doesn't care or doesn't know or just don't want to bother with this kind of nonsense. We all have better things to do.
