I doubt there’s a person that actually lived that doesn’t have a never ending memory of a past or lost love. This is a song about that percipient memory of love, beyond ones control, that can’t be stopped – hence ‘loves refrain.’ Refrain is a strange word perfectly used in this song as it means both REPETITION and HOLD BACK something at the same time – a haunting memory that you can’t stop remembering.
I’ve been very tempted to link hereto an excellent rendition of this song by a young songstress by the name of Allison Young with a superbly polished voice reminiscent of Mama Cass Elliot. But this is a post purposed to uplift disaffected (estranged)young men – not young women. At any rate, if yur really interested she has a video of her singing “Stardust” on YouTube.
It might be worth noting that this song is typically performed by men rather than women – none the less Young ginger does an excellent job with it accompanied by Josh Turner a super talent in his own right.
Hoagy Carmichael was a true masculine creator of which this post is going to only highlight just one of his compositions -- “Stardust.” Choose your favorite rendition.
