With the War in Ukraine you must look back in history. China has an interest in Taiwan. China's leader Xi Jinping has interests in expansion. The USA would do well to make a peace with Russia in hopes of a neutral stance of that power in future conflicts.

You are right the history around this is very deep. My only point is the USA should be able to figure out that is has shot itself in the foot in nearly every conflict since WW11. In this case however they have shot off one foot and are now aiming very carefully at the other one.
Yup. Those outraged against not helping in the Ukraine may also be outraged when Russia invades Puerto Rico - even though they caused it.
And they may be outraged when China takes Taiwan, which they will also have caused, when Ukraine loses - which it will.
Because it will prove that US interference is irrelevant in that extremely delicate balance of power, because the US will be unwilling to stand up to Russia. A fact that would have remained unproved until activists pressed the point, which will remove China's caution against acting.
Congratulations to those activists who are demanding to save the innocent in Ukraine. They will be responsible for maybe millions killed in new conflicts; maybe even nuclear war.
Isn't it wonderful when intellectual pygmies drive foreign policy?

Who knows, what happens after Putin is gone? What does China have planned for Russia? Is the Government in China stable? What role is India going to play? Can Japan and South Korea defend themselves and what are their plans? How does Vietnam and The Philippines figure into the equation?
