I've only found a bit about her today. Interesting. Is she a breath of fresh air? How is she perceived in America (or in your country)? (Objective remarks will be helpful.)

Think of the successful candidates in the past couple of decades: Clinton, Obama, Trump, and to a lesser extent, George W. Not commenting on policy or how successful they were as presidents, but as candidates they managed to connect on a visceral level with people, going beneath the head and hitting right in the guts.
Gabbard doesn’t come close. Neither do any of the insane clown posse, but when she had to read from notes as she hammered Harris’ career as California AG, whatever points she made were lost in a sea of yawns.
She’s about done with her fifteen minutes of fame.

I'm a conservative so I wouldn't support her or any of the Democratic field. I will say I like her anti-war stance and some of what she says I agree with partly at any rate. Yang is halfway decent. Some of the other second tier candidates are are not utterly insane.
But it's a moot point. She won't get anywhere near the nomination. The progressive base is with Warren or maybe Sanders. Booker and Harris can't get any black support. And Biden is going to fade sooner or later.

Hello there. Fair enough that you don't support the Democrats, but glad to know that you have the ability to identify reasonable ones among them. I know some can't - views are polarised among the British public as well as in the American public.
Info on Tulsi Gabbard is kind of sparse.
Her father served in the military, has a family business and is a politician. She had followed in his footsteps, working in the family business, being a politician, and serving in the Army National Guard.
She served 1 tour in Iraq (2004/05) and another in Kuwait (2008/09) as an officer in a medical unit of the Hawaii National Guard. She is currently a Major in the Hawaii National Guard. Interestingly, she did not express antiwar views until 2012.
She is a Hindu believer. A vegetarian. A strong supporter of "renewable energy." She is a strong opponent of Islamist terrorism. She was against LGBTQ marriage, and even against civil unions. She supported Bernie Sanders in 2016.
She is not a doctinaire Democrat. She has angered the established powers in her party a number of times.

Hello. Thank you for the info. She sounds interesting. It's always a good sign, in my opinion, that a politician has or had a career outside politics.

She's been been a candidate or legislator since she graduated from university. It looks like politics has been her pole star for her entire life.
But you're right, she's very interesting.
Oh... but at least she served 1 tour in Iraq and another in Kuwait, no? I guess that wasn't a career as such because it was only a short period of time in each country. I assumed that she became anti-war because of her experience in those countries.
While she has been good on some antiwar issues, she has worrying associations with far right nationalist politicians across the world (e.g., in India and Israel). And her support for gay and abortion rights is dubious. [jacobinmag.com]
