Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.Interesting that just this morning I would have listened to a program on BBC concerning the impact of having 1/3 the population of Oslo being comprised of foriegn born. The direction the discussion intended to take was to explore the measures and the difficulty in these measures accomplishing integration goals by government and NGOs in behalf of this largely segregated population. In some cases it included advocates for diverting public expenditures that citizens largely supported for facilities such as museums and public infrastructure necessary for a growing city and which might be expected and desired in a Nation’s Capitol.
The notion occurred to me that though the problems of integrating this recent influx of immigrant population was very real and the volunteers and policies might be warranted now that the population had been invited inside their borders, was the original invitation something citizens had approved?
If you include in the definition of ‘social trust’ the social contract between citizen and government, I could see a very harmful breakdown in trust of government by its citizens, when it is with their resources that previously non-citizens will be supported in a myriad of ways. In fact it is with their very lives, since what else is government revenue but the hours spent of citizens earning the wages that are then taken in taxes? That is not to argue that immigration (again, read diversity) should not occur, but rather to ensure immigration occurs at a rate approved and supported by citizen-consensus within any nation‘s government, who, after all are supposed to represent citizens.

In part because our welfare entitlements are based on a growing population paying for them. If we do not actively replace our population Banks will downgrade us as soon as they see we aren’t serious about paying them back. We can’t steal candy from a baby if there are no babies. Our whole socialist system is based on it.

Everyone understands that I think. All social programs are pyramid schemes in one way or another. This does not change the ‘interest’ nor the rights a host society has in ensuring an orderly & compatible influx of immigration.

@govols It also has another name even older Ad Hominem. An attack on the person when lacking the ability to refute the point of debate based on facts. It shows a weak position based on emotive reasoning over logic or sound evidence.
Which is rather interesting that the left is using it more and more as it shows how shallow their position is. Every time I deal with "climate change" cultist or a member of the Extinction Revolution and ask if they have taken into account the accelerated movement of the poles. The documented increase in volcanic activity, as well as the higher then normal solar cycle activity we have been having, they get rather angry and threaten violence. Not a wise position for them, but hey their choice.
