Because of the previous president, I feel he was intentionally placed in office to divide the American people. Everything this man done was driven by an ulterior motive to destroy this nation from the inside.

Wow! That was the most blatant case of ignorant ranting I’ve seen in a while. I made it through the beginning of it and then was so put off by the ignorance that I had to skip down to the last couple of paragraphs to see if it was some satirical, sarcastic joke that took way too long to expose itself of if it really was that ridiculous. Unfortunately, the latter seems to be the case.

Just like the “me too” liars harm the case of the true victims of sexual harassment and rape, this foolish ranting harms the case for those harmed by anti-Semitic behaviors. Blaming bad actors on the ones fighting against it is as stupid as it gets. I didn’t want president Trump to be our president, but I have changed my mind based upon what he has accomplished in spite of his distasteful personality. What president has accomplished more for Israel than President Trump? I believe the author harms Jewish people more than he helps. I may be a goy, but I’m also a Christian that sees the Jews as God’s chosen people and I believe those who bless them will be blessed, just as those who curse them will be cursed.

What do you think, did I miss something by skipping the majority of this rant? Was your opinion more toward the authors or did you find it repulsive?

Nah, you did not miss much... spot on.

Good article except for the thesis. Too bad about the unnecessary lies. I guess that's the only way to get attention on the left -

"He verbalizes, encourages, enables, tolerates, winks at, and makes excuses for anti-Semitism, most notably when he said that some of the Nazis marching in Charlottesville in 2017 were “good people.”"

"OK. Good. Are we going to take down the statue? Because he was a major slave owner. Now, are we going to take down his statue? So you know what? It’s fine. You’re changing history. You’re changing culture. And you had people, and I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, because they should be condemned totally. But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists. OK? And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly. Now, in the other group also, you had some fine people, but you also had troublemakers and you see them come with the black outfits and with the helmets and with the baseball bats. You’ve got -- you had a lot of bad -- you had a lot of bad people in the other group…" - Trump

I like to watch it straight from the video.

@WilyRickWiles Exactly. There is no reason to lie about what he said. There is plenty there to not like, but to pretend that he is "encouraging" neo-nazis or white supremacy is simply a lie.

Maybe some on the left see him elevating racists by placing neo-nazis as equal with Antifa?

@RobBlair But I mean, everyone at that march with the tiki torches was a neo-Nazi.

@WilyRickWiles - right. He was wrong. Even so, he was specific that he was not giving the racists and the thugs any positive attention. "They should be condemned totally"

@WilyRickWiles Did you identify, interrogate and investigated every one there? I heard there were several liberal people there that did not want their history ignored.
Of course I was not there, so I cannot say.

@Leroy_Dumonde @Hanno The push back, as I see it, is Gavin McKinnis telling his people not to go because the event had been taken over by the racists.

I cannot speak for America, however my experience in Europe and elsewhere where I have worked and lived (and this does include the USA), anti semitism primarily came from my liberal friends... especially concerning the existence of Israel.

You may group anti-semitism with neo nazis, all 7 of then who is still alive... but it is not the domain of the main conservatives anymore.

On the other hand, Israel hatred is common among socialists.

And of course, the author of this paper is none other than a socialist professor... say no more.

Criticizing Israel is not discrimination against, prejudice, or hostility toward Jews, though.

@WilyRickWiles partly true... there are some Jews who do not support the notion of an Israel state.
However there is also a large fractions of Jews who do. Denying them the right to a country where they can protect themselves and have a say in how they are to live... that is pretty much anti Jew.
It is just my observation that the most anti Jew talk in general has been from the left. However I will concede that it is just my observation that is of course biased.

@Hanno I find it difficult to watch what Israel's far right-wing government has done with respect to Palestinian human rights and settlement expansion over the past few decades and still unconditionally support Israel.

opinion piece no stats or facts ... ignores hype of lies from MSM about Charlottesville, liberal bias from leftist white professors, obviously white supremacists (the elites are the real white supremacists, white professors assuming they have the right to tell others how to think, them and white hollywood idiots who are of the same opinion) ... some one once said be skeptical ...

My grandmother Sarah would not have been surprised by the upsurge in anti-Semitism during the past few years. “Scratch a goy, you’ll find an anti-Semite,”

Maybe the above opening to the linked article has something to do with it. Live as a tribe, always identifying as "us" to everybody "other," and that shit will get turned back on you.

govols Level 8 Jan 17, 2020

Is it not worth considering that her grandmother had little choice in the matter, having escaped pogroms?

Moreover, isn't it wrong to blame "tribes," especially ones with a tradition of cosmopolitan solidarity, rather than tribalists/nativists?

@WilyRickWiles what the heck do you mean by cosmopolitan solidarity?

@govols I mean a commitment to fundamental human rights and solidarity with other groups, e.g. blacks during the civil rights movement, rooted in the memory of historical discrimination and the knowledge that if one group can be discriminated against, yours can too. Such solidarity used to be common among, e.g. Irish Catholics as well, but the discrimination they suffered has faded from memory.
