It's unfortunate that musicians and artists can send a powerful message that will be ignored by the majority while they nod their heads to the melody or to aesthetic appeal of the piece. Perhaps it's an explanation of why artists are often never recognized until after their dead.
Flogging Molly is an example, I think. While they are quite popular, the very powerful and very relevant meaning in many of their songs is likely ignored by most, who listen mindlessly while tapping their feet and nodding their heads.
"Drunken Lullabies" is a popular song. The title is an ode to Irish funerals in the aftermath of civil war. We drink because we grieve for lives lost, while singing lullabies to those who are being put to rest. Most people think this song is just about being drunk on St Patty's day - because for them, that's what it's about. But that's not what it's about.

There are a lot of other important and relevant messages to be heard as well as listened to. Different songs from this artist and from others as well as other forms of media that could be far more influential if people would stop marching to the beat of the drum, stop being woke and open their eyes.

Then I guess a few of them learned to read and had a face-slapping “Uh-oh” moment.
I confess that lyrics are the least relevant part of a song for me, in determining my initial reaction to a song. Good lyrics on an amateurish song structure with an infantile melody will never be noticed, let alone remembered. On the other hand, stellar composition and musicianship will keep songs and albums alive long after their era, even with incoherent lyrics. YES, for example. Still, Dylan didn’t get the Nobel Prize for melody or his musical chops, did he? Sometimes lyrics shine through.
