So like most families, mine has that “racist” uncle. now i have mixed opinions on whether he is legitimately racist vs “racist” but i have definitely had my issues with him over the years for other reasons but it’s kind of weird thinking about how much I actually agree with him right now and kind if can’t wait to hear him and my mom go at it when we go to visit my grandparents. my only concern is I’m not sure how educated or eloquent he is with debating his postion

My father-in-law was a hospitable jokester. He was an intuitive mechanic, a hard worker. He was generous He was also racist. If you got him on the subject, whole streams of epithets would gush out. So I wouldn't talk about those things with him.
Oh BTW, he was a lifelong Democrat.

It's like prohibition, you have to be careful about unintended consequences. Drunkenness and spousal abuse was rampant at the turn of the century. Women were particularly victimized by male alcoholism. What the prohibitionists didn't realize is that the government is a poor substitute for individual responsibility and outsourcing violence (the force of law) to nameless faceless bureaucracies to counter popular culture would lead to corruption.
Woman treat every problem like infant care. There are the innocent, the mom, and everyone else is a potential predator. The problem is that reducing the marginalized to innocents robs them of moral agency. Without moral agency the marginalized becomes victims of victimhood. Just as the overly mothered child doesn't nature properly you are not doing marginalized people any favors by not holding them responsible for their decisions.
