Did anyone watch "The Social Dilemma"?

I forced myself to watch it, because I was hoping for interesting things, any sort of interesting information on how they actually make social media more appealing in terms of design, but there was none of that.
It's a terrible, fear mongering documentary, with compelling piano music, lots of cuts, unfuckingnecessary superlatives, a section in cartoon for no fucking reason, and a fictional movie interspersed throughout the documentary to "demonstrate" in the most watered down possible way how algorithms allegedly sustain one's addiction to social media which ends in the algorithm saying "hello" to the user????????????

Towards the end, however, maybe the last third, they mention because of how the algorithm works (it works by showing you more of what you already interacted with, BECAUSE you interacted with it in any capacity), it has steered us towards the polarization we now know. So if it picks up you interacting with lots of sped up recipe videos or cakes being made, you will see more food posts, the point being, the algorithm's purpose is precisely to get you to stay longer on instagram, because that is how they make their money; and so if you happen to look at "left" leaning posts or clips, you will see more of those.
The overall ends up being you will not see "right" leaning posts or clips, because you haven't looked at those as much, and one ends up seeing ONLY "left" posts and it's as though nothing else exists.

That lowered exposure to different thoughts and opinions is what's having an effect on us psychologically as a whole. One of the many things, anyway, but that aspect of the algorithm definitely stood out to me and makes a lot of sense.
There's a lady with lovely turquoise hair which matches her eyes, and she says she deliberately follows people she disagrees with on twitter, precisely to keep herself exposed to different sort of opinions.
I myself have been trying to do this very thing and it's extremely refreshing.

To me, the idea we have no power over whatever social media and the algorithm does to us is defeatist, freaking stupid, and very lazy of us. We insist on forgetting the biggest and most important variable: the human one. No algorithm will never entirely know any single individual.
