Any of yall think that big tech is making a move to help microsoft restart their smartphone operating system? So many people desperate to get away from spying, looking for any alternative, gates silent for a bit, maybe priming the move by hoping the news cycle has erased peoples memories.

Yes, linux operating system. There is a variety of different linux installs. Do your research first.
We need an open source operating system, such as linux.
Trouble is, the major networks exlude such operating systems.
Getting a phone on a major network requires Android or Apple,.
You often find that you can't change networks because other networks
don't support the phone. Phones and networks are entangled the way hardware
and operating systems are entangled.
The following should all be independent:
Phone hardware
Phone operating system (and App store)
Phone network
Android resists attempts to install linux. On an iPhone it's impossible to
turn it into a fully-functioning computer.
Having your phone enslaved to a proprietary App store is equivalent to
entangling the hardware and operating system. It means you can't write and
execute your own program on the phone. Programming is one of the greatest
achievements of technology and it's been thrown away.
ChromeOS has stern measures preventing you from writing and executing
your own programs. It doesn't even let you access a filesystem. Even if you
could get a program to run, you can't write the results. You can't read data.
It's just evil. It doesn't want you to do cool things.
I worry that the phone companies will discriminate politically.
This is analogous to the killing of Parler.

No, i j7st think maybe they will throw their hat in. There 8s already a microsoft piggyback on top of android that lets you use microsoft programs.

Yes, i am just thinking of the paranoid masses looking to escape the actions of this past few days.
if you're out on the web - the inter-webs as some call it you have no expectation of privacy. All of that stopped when the Bush dubya - established the DHS and the FAISA court. If Gov't wants to know what you are up to there is nothing you can do to stop them finding out.

I agree. And every corporate head of tech since clinton administration/microsoft monopoly hearings back in the 90's has seemed to turn government informant.
