I wrote an essay about this topic based on my experience of having my daughter legally kidnapped and molested by my dad and step-mom, most of my gfs and female relatives having been molested, and myself having been falsely accused (via Gangstalking Protocol) myself of being a pedo. As an empath I decided to become one. I am not interested in kneejerk murder all pedos mentality. I am interested in the truth of the matter - the spectrum, the kitty pron industry, the psychology. The sanctity of childhood is a joke, the "maturity" of adults is a lie (just watch the news) ... so what is the REAL issue here?

I hope someone else responds as I have no experience with such things. I had a pretty great childhood and if children were being molested I had no knowledge of it.

I have some opinions but you most likely will not like them. If you are going to be offended by a cold look at the problem stop reading here.

In our closest relatives inbreeding does not seem to be a big problem.

It would be tempting to say based on the observation of our closest relative that sex with females that had not commenced full oestrous cycles was "unnatural". But that is not what is being said. Sex with close relatives after females were capable of reproduction may be "unnatural". As far as I know all mammals engage in such behavior as genital rubbing and mounting before sexual maturity. Typically this behavior is between individuals of the same age group. That leads me to speculate that at least some of the problem is related to self domestication and neotony or the retention of juvenile traits in humans. Properly matured individuals should not be as likely to engage in molestation. The caveat is that neotony means properly matured is rather abstract.

What I'm saying is there are, as there is with most things, likely biological and social influences in child molestation. If it is as prevalent as the media has presented it most likely it is unpreventable. We should do what we can to prevent it, especially trying to make victims not become perpetrators, but we will never stop it. We will always have to deal with the aftermath.

Aberrant sexual behavior is common to all species. Determining what is aberrant is not as easy as it may seem. We can see that in the controversy over gay rights etc. there is a real danger that pedophilia will be normalized because of it's prevalence and we should guard against that. In doing so we should be very careful not to stigmatize sexuality itself. In my opinion it is best not to stigmatize any sexual behavior and simply explain what the law is and maintain a high degree of respect for the law. Punishment plays an essential role in maintaining respect for the law. That means that the law is not mitigated by unreasonable consideration for perpetrators. That we retain strict penalties for molestation regardless of the individuals ability to control their impulses. It comes under the equal protection clause as there is no way to determine what a person could or could not have controlled.

I will finish up briefly. We have seen a shift towards naturalism since the sixties. An attempt to normalize sexuality. It is part of a general trend away from traditional values that goes back centuries and has it's roots in the Renaissance. The rediscovered ancient history tells a tell of civilizations that had a much different set of mores, especially sexual mores. In Greek and Roman cultures pedophilia was practice openly if not actually approved of. That is not to say it was not a problem while civilization was under the dictates of the Catholic Church in the West. It certainly was a problem during the "Dark Ages". In theory however it was condemned. It would be bad enough if the Renaissance had not undermined the authority of the church but it is more complicated than that. The enlightenment undermined the entire basis of morality. Today the process continues as science has rejected freewill and by extension human agency and dignity. Freewill should not be thought of freedom but a socially constructed shackle to restrain natural impulses. From the naturalistic perspective responsibility is an alien concept. From the scientific perspective a pedophile couldn't have done otherwise. The philosopical term is incompatibilism. If we want to make society functional again we are going to have to restore compatibilism in which there is a rational basis for punishment. Where the law is the law and is applied equally with little concern for attenuating circumstances. The Harsh stable condition that civilization requires. Where social status doesn't effect punishment either way.

I'm not saying have a legal system that is not compassionate but carefully considers what is compassionate for society as a whole. Not an easy task and one the current government is not competent to administer.
