Richards Marles has reaffirmed Australia's commitment to the one-China policy as Canberra moves towards "stabilising" its relationship with Beijing.
Under Australia's version of the one-China policy Taiwan is acknowledged as a province of China and is not recognised as its own country.

So they have chosen a government that limits their rights, instead of a government that is limited to preserve the rights of the public.
If the people were smart enough to preserve their own rights and limit government, they would never side with China.

In part this is a failure of US policy in the 50s and 60s. If we had not interfered and let Communists have their way, they would have utterly discredited themselves by now. Even the dummies in Australia would not be choosing tyranny. But we gave the Communists a straw man to blame. Stupid. Now we will be lucky to not fall to socialism as well.
