I wonder if the social justice left realizes that the power class in the west is the very intelligentsia that they themselves aspire to. The privilege/oppression structure that is being sown into the winds of change will eventually engulf them in a tempest of their own making. They are the one percent of the new ruling class.

A hundred years ago the vast majority of the brightest people in society lived and worked among their dimmer counterparts. So few people went to college, so many of them born of affluence, millions of the very best minds in society were farmers, printshop owners, manufacturing workers...the brilliance of society resided mainly among the working class driving productivity and innovation right there where the work was being done. Today, that vast majority of the brightest of us is shunted off to college and funneled toward the managerial class, the intellectual class, the administrative higher ups in government agencies, etc. Even the brightest of the poorest of us winds up going off to university, leaving their humble communities--if only for a time--and then living in a world socially apart from their origins.

The modern era has society divided between the have brains and the have less. The small business owner plays hell finding the really smart, manually capable young person to participate in the building of an enterprise. The bright ones no longer get jobs and then families, but instead get degrees, careers, and then maybe settle down to enjoy the good life. Most of our brightest now have degrees, earn professional level incomes from careers they were actually able to plan for and choose; the most influential advocates for social justice are in fact the most privileged among us. These are our governmental ideas persons, our community organizers with PhD's in social work, the Professors at our universities, the top executives at our most socially conscious corporations. These are our ruling elite, and it's their children often leading the outrage mobs on some of the most elite institutions of higher learning our societies have to offer. The Social Justice Warrior is often among the most privileged human animals reared by any culture ever to have existed.

The west today has become a society in which a priesthood of the brightest proselytizes to the masses a gospel of oppression. They're stirring up in the brewpot of culture a discontent with privilege enjoyed more and more exclusively, a maelstrom of the sort that could influence the tides of history.

These are the sorts of tides that can lift all boats...and leave them shattered on the shores. These people are playing with the sorts of forces that lead to revolution. They're envisioning colonial America--LIBERTY!!!
