The California legislature says high suicide rates among LGBT are caused by disapproval from religions and religious people.
In the Netherlands (which has church attendance in the low single digits) gay men are at a remarkably higher risk of suicide than heterosexual men. The Netherlands, which advertises Amsterdam as the "gay capital of the world." The Netherlands, which was the first country in the world to legalize same sex marriage.
So lack of religion doesn't seem to affect suicide rates among gay men. And neither does governmental approval.

Where else does anti-LGBTQ sentiment come from, then, if not the historical importance American society placed on Christianity? The animals? I don't know where else this would come from. The overwhelming majority of lawmakers in this country's history have been Christian.

That's right. Cali politicians are saying LGBT people are committing suicide because of disapproval from religions they don't practice and religious people they don't associate with. Damn those fundementalists, and their insidious influence!
People with mental illness have much higher rates of suicide. Does this say anything???
