Once again Trump forces the media to do his bidding, without even trying.
The lovely Ilhan Omar, long dogged by rumors that she married her brother in an immigration scam, had managed thus far to deal with the issue by simply ignoring it, a tact in which she has been enthusiastically aided and abetted by our propaganda ministries at the New York Times, Washington Post and other such august purveyors of approved truth. “Move along; nothing to see here.”
Then Emersld Robinson from ONN fed Trump a question at an impromptu press conference, as always, televised and broadcast to the nation: Was anyone looking into possible immigration fraud over this issue?”
BANG! Didn’t matter what Trump said in reply. Actually, he gave the standard “I know nothing,” disclaimer, no different in kind from Clinton and Obama’s favored, “I only know what I read in the press.”
But the damage was done. The President invoked the rumor, and the full weight of the media “fact-checking” machine was called on to debunk the story and further cement Trump’s credentials as a racist liar. Except, oops. They haven’t been able to, primarily due to Omar’s refusal to cooperate.
So now the question, “Did Ilhan Omar marry her brother,” is on the lips of every major media outlet, here and abroad. Of course, left-wing rags like Mother Jones slant it thus: “Trump’s latest Omar smear shows how unfounded right-wing claims go mainstream.” And The Daily Beast spins,”How the Omar marriage smear went from fever swamp to Trump.” Note the objective use of the word smear? No bias here.
But the only audience that will respond to these partisan efforts were already OD’ing on the Kool Aid. More important are the average news consumers who actually are able to think and choose, when presented with sufficient information from both sides. Now, thanks to the MSM, they’re learning far more about a story that was supposed to be kept hidden.
The story might be “Trump’s A Racist,” but the meta-story, once again, is “Media Flacks Dance To Trump’s Tune.”

Then there's Melania Trump, who arrived in the US on a visitor visa and proceeded to illegally work for seven weeks before receiving a work visa. [apnews.com]
Moreover, there is a lot of uncertainty about Melania's story. [washingtonpost.com] According to her attorney's statements, she may even have been married before Donald. Who knows, maybe she married HER BROTHER in a fraudulent "chain migration" scheme to bring her parents here!
It seems to me that the case for Melania Trump committing immigration fraud is stronger. Shall we send her back?
