I made this comment in response a comment left by @Naomi who commented on a post created by @GeeMac let me know what you think.

"I believe that her passion and beliefs are genuine, but I would assume that there are some things in her head which she has not thought through. "

This pretty much defines the mind of a child. In the case of little Greta she is also stricken with some form of autism/Asperger syndrome. Also she was born into a family that imposed their Marxist dogma upon their own helpless daughter.
Greta is to be pitied - not chided. She is NOT to blame for the things that come from her lips. If those things can be characterized as "ideas" in the first place they certainly are NOT ideas arrived at of her own reasoning. Greta has been victimized by her parents and others. Now she is being victimized by 100s of thousands of people who both love the things she says and those who do not.
The right thing to do with Greta would be to gently pat her on the head and tell her she did a good job as trained and instructed and then to send her back to her sheltered little world and to pray that somehow, some day little Greta will be able to reason for herself.

And this is my reply to iThink's comment (i.e., the original post) on GeeMac's page:

"Hello iThink. "The right thing to do with Greta would be to gently pat her on the head..." That's patronising! Lol
Do you remember when you were child, how frustrating it was to have your ideas, thoughts or feelings brushed off by your teachers, parents or any grownups? Get told not to be silly - conversation over? I do. Grownups forget that once they were children themselves. Children have their own thoughts and their own feelings; no matter how childish, naive, immature, etc., they are still thoughts and they are still feelings. Children need to be listened to and made aware that there are some things that they haven't thought through (like "sell your car or you are going to die in the next 12 years" which doesn't make sense, right?) so that they will be wiser. Listen to them and guide them by all means, but don't just dismiss their views. That would be my approach if I had young children. Unfortunately, Greta is wrapped up in her passion and beliefs so much that she fails to understand how her actions are impacting on young minds. No one with a sane mind would tell children that they are going to die in a matter of years. There are so many children and young people already suffering depression. Why tell them such a thing? It's cruel. Someone has to talk to her face-to-face and unpick her thoughts. That would be the right thing to do for her IMO."

I would add that I am aware that Greta herself has a disposition to depression, not to mention she has Asperger's syndrome. Exploitation of people with mental health problems is truly a rotten thing to do. She has been used as a moral shield to silence others. It is so unhealthy that she mingle with politically-motivated adults. Instead, she should be mingling and discussing climate change with others at her own age. After all, climate change needs to be debated among young people.
I fear that she will eventually be burnt out and have a breakdown, and there will be another Greta. I fear that there is manufacturing of Greta going on. I so wish someone or something could stop the entire thing.

And I wrote this in response to another comment about Greta: "Given Jordan Peterson's recently exposed addiction, which required him to be institutionalized, it's time to consider whether he is being exploited as well--by the right."

I don't know anything about JP addiction - haven't kept up on the man. I find it very unlikely JP would allow himself to be "exploited". He rose to semi-fame over the Canadian Gov'ts new laws regarding speech codes and found there was an opportunity to make some money and fame (or notoriety as some might see it) going on speaking tours. If anyone "exploited" his fame and popularity it would be JP himself. I tend to believe the man is earnest and forthright - tells things the way he sees them. Doesn't try to appeal to "the greatest number of people" like a politician does. I respect the man. Regarding his personal problems I wish him well.

To back up the original post, here is my comment in full:
"Hello. Greta is 16. I expect any 16-year-olds to be able to take responsibilities for and accept the consequences of their own actions. For that reason, I don't see her as a complete victim of post-modernism. I believe that her passion and beliefs are genuine, but I would assume that there are some things in her head which she has not thought through. It is not healthy, in my opinion, that she is given a microphone and make emotional speeches without being challenged. It does not lead to a discourse. She is entitled to her opinions and she is entitled to free speech, so are other teens who disagree with her. She and opposing teens should be given opportunities to debate on climate change. After all, climate change needs to be discussed among young people (I'm a skeptic, but not a denier). Greta should be listened to (what she really thinks, not the rhetoric she learned to speak) but not necessarily to be agreed with all the time. Her views need to be challenged by others in the same generation, not being bashed, ridiculed, or patronised, let alone being manipulated by adults."

These two ideas seem to contradict one another.

"For that reason, I don't see her as a complete victim of post-modernism."

I also do not see Greta a being victimized by post modernism - she is a victim of her own parents who foisted their dogma upon her.

"Her views need to be challenged by others in the same generation, not being bashed, ridiculed, or patronised, let alone being manipulated by adults."

I respectfully disagree with this idea - Gretas' views in my opinion don't need to be challenged by anyone at least not directly toward her - because of her mental condition. She should simply be left alone and not challenged for her remarks at the UN...do do so in my mind would be to heap more abuse upon an already abused child.

I really do feel sorry for the girl. I say let well enough alone and move on.
