From experience as a counselor and dealing with this problem, most young kids that want to be the sex opposite of their born gender don't want to be like the mom or dad that is raising them. My advice to people that have young kids that want be other than there natural gender is to look at why your child despises you so much that the don't want to be like you.

The sick crap people are doing to the kids these days. And none of them are going to prison, yet I have read articles of kids being taken from their homes because a dad yelled at his 3 year old child to get out of the street. My kids are grown, I can't even begin to imagine what kind of crap I would be fighting the state over because of how I raised my kids.
