I am guilty of pointing to 1956 as the date when in God We Trust first started appearing on most of our currency. I am also guilty of pointing at 1954 as the date when "Under God" appeared in the Pledge.

My apologies to the author of this initial post, but it is sort of annoying. It is wither meant to trigger or it is meant to incite or it is meant to try and display ignorance of too many things in one sentence.

I do my best to remind my kids why the dollar bill is worth $1. They can answer the question. They do it moderately well. When we are playing Minecraft, one of my sons does it better than most people I have met.

As I crafted items in Minecraft, he would tell me "Don't use Y to craft that item, it is too expensive. Use Z to do it. You may only get 1 of the item that way, but we have lots of Z, Y is really hard to find!"

A man from Tunisia educated me on the subject also. He told me that women in Tunisia loved US Century Notes. It could be folded up small and hidden very effectively and kept on your person, and it could be used ANYWHERE.

Why could it be used anywhere?

The truly basic part of this equation is trust. If I hand a $20 bill to a clerk in Baghdad, he is very confident that he can walk down the road and use it to buy something else. The person there is very confident that he can do the same thing himself.

Trust. That is all there is to any currency. Even if that currency is Gold.

"In God We Trust" does not make me unhappy. It only starts to make me unhappy when some numnut uses it as the argument for why I should believe in god. My mother was in grade school when it happened.

I am still pissed that I didn't learn this little detail until I was 35. I wasted a lot of thought as a result of that missing detail. I managed to survive.

Well said. Though I love it when I get the lefty who tries the 1954 as when the motto was first used on US currency. Being that we own more than a few Morgan dollars from 1880's. Which is a good number of years before they want to deal with. Then again according to these folks being a Methodist elder is a deist as is holding Church services in the Capital building on Sunday's (two different founding Presidents). It is sad how much the left will quote intentional misinformation in order to support their own self centered agendas.

Please explain how the "In God We Trust" motto on US currency, or State Seals is problematic? Do the words burn a hole in your hand? What would you have removed next? The old dead "white" Presidents? How about the numbers that place a "value" on a piece of paper? Good grief, get get a life.
