Oh good - just slap one of those "Outdated Cultural Depictions" stickers on the "Song of the South" movie and I can finally watch it -
I could see arguing for protecting the sensibilities of children, but as adults, I have no problem rejecting our past prejudices while also appreciating the stories of our past and engaging in our historical culture. I'd further argue that seeing the propagandist stereotyping of the Japanese and Germans during WW2 even in the Disney flicks at the time provides a more revealing perspective than text on a sheet. Perhaps I could even argue that seeing some of Uncle Remus' stories highlights the depravity of the slavers but further humanizes those who were enslaved.

I think the newer movies with LGBTQ as actors should be the ones with warnings. Sorry no Disney in this house. We believe in Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. We buy our granddaughters dolls and grandsons cars and each one has a Bible. I answer to a higher set of standards than political correctness.
