Sadly quite a few, especially those that can only handle one boogey man, in their realm of what passes as reality.

It’s both. There was a big march in Toronto on the weekend in support of the Iranian mullahs. It’s absolutely unreal that multiculturalism has come to mean automatically condemning the US and Israel, while siding with authoritarian Islamic regimes, regardless of the facts. It’s not restricted to Islam, either. We see more and more demonstrations in Canada in support of the Chinese dictatorship and against Hong Kong.

It may seem unreal but it is the deliberate and hoped-for consequence of years of multicultural indoctrination which has a hatred for the US built in. Herbert Marcuse's reconsideration of Marxist revolution became necessary when it was evident the Western working class was upwardly mobile and not about to seize the means of production. Hence, neo-Marxist "liberation politics" promotes multiculturalism because, according to Marcuse, as Wikipedia explains, "The working class is no longer a potentially subversive force capable of bringing about revolutionary change. As a result, rather than looking to the workers as the revolutionary vanguard, Marcuse put his faith in an alliance between radical intellectuals and those groups not yet integrated into one-dimensional society, the socially marginalized, the substratum of the outcasts and outsiders, the exploited and persecuted of other ethnicities and other colors,"

In short, multiculturalism's intent is to fracture Western Liberal Democracies by undermining nationalism/patriotism in favor of cultural relativism and by framing the West as a monolithic oppressor with its boot on the necks of nonwhites. By virtue of birth as a Western White Man you are an oppressor who must make way for the marginalized. Look who agitates for open borders, who opposes rational immigration control, who defends this stance with the slurs "racism" and "xenophobia." These are the "radical intellectuals" of US universities and their multiculturalist dupes aiding in the disintegration of the social order so that a multicultural Socialist utopia might be ushered in.

@bullhubbard you lay out the case for this very well and many who actually value looking beyond the immediate agree with you, this is exactly the intent.

Just today, in their coverage of the Markle fiasco, the Daily Mail said she failed to see Britain’s “rising mood of scepticism towards identity politics and the language of social justice, much of a imported from (her) birthplace.“

@GeeMac I agree that there is hope. I think the new generation will be much more conservative and the majority of them will reject cultural relativism/multiculturalism and PC language prescriptions. The whole thing just takes too much energy and creates too much hatred, anger, and anxiety. Being woke is frigging exhausting! You're always on guard, always hunting for counter-revolutionary acts, looking for blasphemy against intersectional dogma and running to Twit to express your moral outrage or join some sort of smear/deplatforming campaign.

I think American universities are a lost cause, though, and that's a big problem because their Critical Studies programs have their influence and intersectionality/social justice dogma has spread from there to other institutions, most influentially in schools of education/teacher training, from which social justice principles have begun to infiltrate the teaching of math and the hard sciences.
