SAY WHAT? I thought this was old school (before LGBT) Liberal philosophy? I remember years ago I worked with a real fruit and nut from Kalifornia. He as a big supporter of LGBT even before I had heard of of it. A hippie wannabe of course, he would talk of how it was sexist for women to wear make-up. And UN-NATURAL as he also thought he was Mr. Natural. In one of our epic arguments I said if it is Unnatural for women to change their appearance and modify it, why do many tribal women worldwide do strange things like stretch their necks and lips with gold bracelets and many other alterations to their appearance. He shut his yap.

Are we attacking women here? Is this where this community is going? This verifies Steven Pinker's theory of our improving quality of life in the 21st Century. Also, a testament to political leadership and the lack of any more serious topics to discuss. Make up or no make up, I hope everyone does what makes them most comfortable and ignore the critics.

I used to believe almost exactly the same thing. However, my wife, (an amazing beauty with or without makeup) helped me to understand what her makeup and her daily regimen means to her. She enjoys not only how the makeup makes her look (slightly different), but also how it makes her feel putting it on. It is part of a daily routine for her for the past half century. It used to bother me that my wife looked half my age, but I finally realized it wasn't about me. For her, this ritual is as refreshing as taking a bath, brushing your teeth or exercising (for some people). She doesn't need it to be beautiful, but I am convinced it lightens her spirit and starts her day off right.

Basic training taught us to make our bed as soon as we get up. Start the day off with that one job done well. I no longer make my bed in such a way that you can bounce a coin off its taught surface, but I understand the idea that if you start the day early by accomplishing one thing well, you are on your way to the next thing at which you can excel. If you don't get a single other thing done well all day, you'll be able to finish your day by crawling into a comfortable, well made bed that reminds you that you did something well today.

My suggestion: give her a break and encourage what makes her happy as it doesn't hurt you and it DOES help her. You may learn to enjoy how she has made it a priority to be amazing. I know I have...
