This does not affect the unemployed at all!
OK, NZ is also financially helping real businesses that are affected, so I appreciate their efforts there... but increasing the benefit?

The ONLY stimulus that has proven effective, and far greater than government spending, is temporarily cutting taxes to zero and letting the private sector use the additional funds they normally pay in taxes to bring commerce roaring back to life. The "Irish Miracle," "Reaganomics," and countless other examples in history prove it - unless you are a leftist.
That one will sail so far over their heads as to never strike them at all.

they are correct in that observation. That is exactly, precisely the reality of it all. Gov't creates nothing - gov't produces nothing - gov't can only steal from those who do create wealth.
