Interestingly, capitalism and overpopulation are identified as problems as big as climate change. It takes little thought to understand that capitalist countries, with higher standards of living and more education, do not have an overpopulation problem. That’s an issue in poorer, less democratic regions, where some capitalism could be put to good use.

Figueres admitted that the Global Warming conspiracy set by the U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, of which she is the executive secretary, has a goal not of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity, but to destroy capitalism.

She said very casually: “This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution.”

She even restated that goal ensuring it was not a mistake: “This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history.”

@TimTuolomne It’s difficult to discuss climate change since anyone who questions the woke position is shouted down immediately as a backward “denier”; but I agree, this isn’t about the environment, it’s about wealth redistribution. It’s telling that progressives reject the term “cultural Marxist”, yet every time they rise an issue — the environment, feminism, racism — they blame capitalism and demand reform.

@GeeMac, I'm relieved to learn that you were talking about what others say about climate change, not that you agree that it is a real issue. Almost no one seems to be aware that CO2 has been declining for the last thousand years and is nearly at the extinction value for plant life on Earth. Humans have actually delayed the loss of plant life by boosting CO2 by 30% or so. The sad truth is that if we don't find a way to release sequestered CO2 from the Earth soon, all plant life will perish in a few generations. When those generations read history of us trying to reduce CO2, they are going to think we were morons.
