If this is true (this is in the state of Maine), it's pretty degrading, but hey, if it saves just one life; it's all that matters. Being humiliated, degraded, and treated like a dog really isn't all that important. I mean, who do you think you are, a human being or something?

It's just an option, but I don't see how this better than the style of face shields we've normally seen. Maybe someone with a medical POV can explain.

I’m not a doctor, but I play one on tv. The face shield is completely impervious plastic barrier. The mask is useless against something as small as a virus.
@Bobbybob Next question, Doc...are those sneaky little bastards more likely to invade your body by going over or under a face shield? 
@coalburned Great question. I require my patients to wear this style of mask. The “Sneaky Little Bastards” will sometimes travel up, over, and down into the bottle. I have them maintain a coating of hand sanitizer to this orifice. Gravity can be a bastard too. The face shield should be worn upside down in The northern hemisphere, and right side up somewhere like Maine. Keep all edges well lubed with hand sanitizer.
