I am old as fug and I never heard of juneteenth until last month. Granted I live in the North East and from what I have heard "Oh yeah we had BBQs every year back in Texas" on every TV Station by every black newshead, it just seems a bit forced. Someone on /pol/ showed me the earliest twatter reference dates to 2007 (there were like 8 references and a translator might be needed for 4) but I'm curious if you guys heard of our future National Holiday before

I never imagined I'd see it on the news last night in Hawaii. HAWAII.
There are few blacks in Hawaii. I never saw a black person in real life until a black boy transferred to my school around third grade. Wikipedia says our population is 4% African, but that seems improbably, extremely high. That's more than twice our Korean population, and Koreans are very visible here.
