I was talking to a friend yesterday and we ended up watching one of Sydney Watsons videos (I think it was the not all men video) and had a discussion about it. She goes on to ask me how so many people could have been brainwashed like this, accepting things without questioning.
And as an answer to that I showed her both the video and then read about the actual experiment in Palo Alto. She is from Lithuania and had never heard of this.
The interesting thing for me is that growing up in Germany in the 80s and 90s there was this huge sensitivity around not being Nazis or insensitive to the Jewish people. It was not okay to say 'I am proud to be German', you could not wear Norse symbols and if you pointed out that apologizing for the Holocaust (as a 14 year old kid in '91) should be done by the people that perpetrated it and not children that had nothing to do with it you then you were obviously a Nazi. It was basically the whole all-men-inherently-rapists story just at the time it was called all-Germans-are-inherently-nazis.
Sad stuff. Back then and even worse now.
