well....clinically....the hypocrisy they suffer from is known as cognitive dissonance, holding 2 contradictory ideas simultaneously and seeing nothing wrong with it
I find it even more strange that all those older progressives were quite fine with the musical Hair on Broadway; hell they probably even attended on red carpets [en.wikipedia.org]
and several of the songs would be considered quite racist today, but then that all goes against the current narrative and how we had pretty much abolished systemic prejudice then, until revived by the ignorance for political power gains.
