BUTTTT .
JacksonNought comments on Jun 26, 2020:
Last November, 2 Republicans in Ohio were charged with distributing phony sample ballots. In 2018, Republicans in NC were found guilty of illegally collecting and filling in absentee ballots on behalf of the Republican candidate. In 2016, a Republican in Colorado was convicted of double voting in the November election in both Colorado and Kansas. In 2013, a Republican candidate in Massachusetts was found guilty of attempting to guarantee extra votes in his primary by changing the party affiliation of Democrats to un-enrolled, then submitting false absentee ballot requests in their name.

White Privilege, what about Jew Privilege?
JacksonNought comments on Jun 26, 2020:
How is that Jew privilege? Sounds like issues with a foreign nation. How is that relevant to the United States, where the issue of privilege is center stage? Is it because Trump appears to bow down to Israel, showing that he isn't really all about "America First"? You do realize Israel is a country, right? And there are Jews (as an ethnicity) who have never been to Israel, don't hold any allegiance to Israel, don't care about Israel in any way, and are critical of Israel. Heck, I am one of those ethnic Jews who has lived in the US my whole life, never traveled to Israel, and am highly critical of the Netanyahu regime. Why are we bringing this up in regards to the US? So if Italy did something we didn't like, we would blame all Americans with Italian heritage? If the UK or Ireland did something we didn't like, we would blame all Americans with English or Irish heritage? Hey, I think the monarchy in the UK is corrupt and uses taxpayer dollars for their lavish lifestyles - where is the rampant anti-WASP mentality in the US? The overwhelming majority of ethnic Jews, specifically ones with traces back to Judea and not just ones from converting, are considered white. You ever notice when you fill out a race section on a government form, there is no option for Jewish - just Caucasian non-Hispanic. Would you consider Italians non-white? And even if you do consider ethnic Jews non-white for some reason, they still present as white, and therefore yes, they do benefit from white privilege. Now there are other privileges they do not benefit from, such as religious privileges in an extreme Christian-centric country, but as far as race goes they have the same white privilege as your standard white Christian male.

What views can get someone kicked off Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc?
JacksonNought comments on Jun 19, 2020:
Well look at Jaclyn Glenn. She wasn't kicked off YouTube, but she's had videos taken down just for criticizing Kenneth Copeland's batshit crazy video where he "blew away" COVID with the power of his god. And yet Copeland's video is still up. You also see other prominent atheist or liberal YouTubers getting demonetized for calling out hateful speech from others, like some of the prominent Bible thumping Christian YouTubers, but those Christians have no issues. There is a lot of censorship when it comes to non-Judeo-Christian thinking. And as far as Twitter goes, Corey Feldman posted on Twitter a call for people to go burn down the HQ of The Satanic Temple, and when the co-founder/spokesperson called him out for it, he was temporarily banned from Twitter *instead* of Feldman.

I'm a Christian and I hope to find an atheist who can be converted to Christianity.
JacksonNought comments on Jun 15, 2020:
Atheism is merely a lack of belief in any god, mainly due to insufficient evidence especially as presented by theists. That is all. There is nothing else that atheists innately have in common, and any commonalities are merely coincidental or a result of something else. If you want to blame all atheists for the actions of dictators who tried to remove religion in order to make them the supreme power, then you must also blame all Christians for the Holocaust and any other harm that any Christian has ever done. For your second point, you are using the god of the gaps fallacy - something is hard to explain without a god, so therefore it must be a god. Well, throughout history there were things people observed and couldn't explain, and so they attributed it to gods. Humans couldn't explain lightning and thunder, so they came up with Thor and his hammer. Humans couldn't explain why the sun disappeared at night and came back in the morning, so they came up with the goddess Nut swallowing her son Ra every night and then him being reborn every day. We have since learned what causes lightning and thunder, and the rotation of the earth and observance of the sun - we no longer need to have fairytales of gods to explain it. We may not yet know definitively how the universe began or how life started, but it is fine to take the position of "I don't know" rather than say it must have been a god. We don't know yet, but perhaps we may know in the future. And even if we never know, why does the automatically mean it must have been a god? Where is your evidence of this god? And what god? Maybe it really is Egyptian polytheism or Hinduism? Your goal is to convert an atheist to Christianity, but you aren't making any claims for the Christian interpretation - just trying to make a case for theism vs atheism. If you want to convert an atheist to Christianity, you must provided definitive, repeatable, provable facts as to the existence of a god and that the Christian interpretation is accurate. Also, which Christianity are you going for? Catholic? Protestant? Baptist? Lutheran? Methodist? 7th Day Adventist? Unification? Unitarian? Mormon? Jehovah's Witness? Christian Scientist? Amish? Mennonite? Why are you trying to convert an atheist, rather than trying to save the people who practice the wrong kind of Christianity? You say atheism is not reasonable based on facts, yet religion and theism requires fact-less "faith" in order to believe. Atheists will often keep an open mind, and just want proof - it is usually the theists who have too much pride to every believe they could be wrong.
In an era of inclusively, is it time for the Pride parade to ALSO celebrate heterosexuality?
JacksonNought comments on Jun 14, 2020:
"Now that all people share equality the benefits and challenges of marriage" - I don't necessarily agree with this. Sure, it is now legal to marry in the US as a same-sex couple, but look at all of the cases of same-sex couples being denied services - you never see this happening for adulterers or divorcees, so clearly there is still a large case of discrimination against homosexual people. There is no federal law protecting homosexuals or trans individuals from being fired or denied housing just for their orientation / identity, and 17 states provide no civil protection. We still have a long way to go before the GSRM (gender/sexual/romantic minority) community is given equal opportunities and protection. Look at what Trump is currently doing, kicking trans people out of the military, and allowing them to be turned away from basic medical services; yes, under Trump's administration, a trans person can be denied a flu shot because the doctor doesn't want to touch a trans person. As long as GSRM communities are still considered second class citizens, there is no need for "Straight Pride". Pride is about years and years of discrimination and adversity, and fighting to gain rights, and not letting others take away your identity. There is no need for a celebration of being straight, as there was never any time in which you were systematically disadvantaged due to it.

Don't ALL Lives Matter? Why Saying "Black Lives Matter" Is Wrong
JacksonNought comments on Jun 10, 2020:
The problem is that BLM groups specifically state what they believe. The name doesn't matter, the message does. Trying to argue against their message with semantics is just diluting the issue. Why aren't people complaining that the NRA only cares about rifles and not handguns or other weapons? Why is it only an issue when it comes to BLM? You see these kinds of mental gymnastics all the time, often as a deliberate attempt to dismiss the issue. For example, rather than acknowledge Kaepernick silently protesting against police violence, you start accusing him of disrespecting the flag and the troops and why should he care he is a rich athlete and he should be fired let's burn his jersey. You will also see people complain that BLM isn't saying anything about black on black crime, so they must not really care and it must be a Soros funded conspiracy or something, clearly ignoring the difference between criminals committing violence and state sponsored authorities committing violence against those they should be protecting. You will see people make excuses that the black victim wasn't a model citizen and might have been on drugs, as if that is deserving of being choked or shot. Most people know that BLM doesn't just mean "only black people" - the people who yell out "All Lives Matter" are just trying to play the victim and pivot from the issue because it doesn't affect them and they do not care. These are typically the same people who protest quarantine lockdowns, but then tell everyone they need to follow the mandatory curfew from the protests. These are the same people who bring guns to a rally because they are trying to rise up against government force and they scream in the faces of police, but then they have no problem with government forces tear gassing and shooting at protesters so that the president can have a photo op and they say we should support the police. It is a sickening pattern - a notoriously subjugated group tries to raise an issue, and then the privileged class starts whining that they are the real victims and why aren't they the center of attention anymore. Black people try to raise awareness of a pattern of police violence with Black Lives Matter, and the white people have to complain that they aren't included and say All Lives Matter. Gay people try to take pride in who they are, going against years of discrimination, with Gay Pride - and straight people complain that they are left out and try to have Straight Pride. Women in Hollywood try to raise awareness of rampant sexual misconduct with MeToo, and men have to interject with Not All Men. Non-Christians say hey, we have holidays in November and December too, and Christians start complaining that there's a war on Christmas. No one is actually trying to say "all" cops are ...
In your opinion, can men be feminists? Why, or why not?
JacksonNought comments on Jun 10, 2020:
Yes, anyone can subscribe to an ideology, even if it does not apply to them or denigrates them. For example, women can be misogynists (like hardcore religious women who think they shouldn't have the right to vote and must be subjugated), you can have homosexual homophobes (like the ones who go through conversion therapy), and you can even have a black person who is a white supremacist. The question people will always ask is what do you mean by feminist. There are several different schools of thought and people with different definitions. Some people think it means female supremacy and making males a subjugated class. The most accepted definition, and the one which I subscribe to, is that it is simply in favor of female equality and no more subjugation. Some people, like a couple in this thread, are so threatened by female equality that they criticize any male who supports it. They will use groan-worthy terms like "soyboys" or call them "whipped" or "simps". Honestly, I don't even understand the whole "soyboy" thing? Let's see them share a snapshot of their lives, see how "manly" they really are? You ever notice how most Incels (you know, the guys who think they are owed sex by any girl they desire, and hate women for not lining up to pleasure them) are typically overweight, unhygienic, have no careers, and believe that women should have no rights? And they call others "unmanly" as if they are the perfect example of the macho male image. How would they stack up next to some prominent vegan bodybuilders, who do eat a lot of soy https://www.menshealth.com/fitness/a19535559/vegan-bodybuilders-instagram/?
Do you believe current issues will take a back seat after the November election?
JacksonNought comments on Jun 10, 2020:
Some issues will, some won't. I feel like BLM and Antifa actions have been around constantly, so they won't be going away just because the election is over. Same with COVID precautions, unless we can get a stable vaccine, as that has nothing to do with the election. But I am sure some issues will magically disappear, much like the "migrant caravan invasion threat" mysteriously disappeared after the primaries.

Did you know there are no statues of Hitler in Germany, and Nazi symbolism is illegal? Yet everyone in Germany is aware of WWII and the Holocaust - no statues needed. You also have to understand that a majority of Confederate statues weren't built after the Civil War, but during the Jim Crow era, with a large amount erected between 1900 and 1920. Some were even put up as recently as the 60's, and one was even put up in 2007. These aren't statues honoring brave soldiers - they are monuments towards racism, idolizing traitors and losers. Let me ask you, what are your thoughts on other countries, like perhaps Iraq. In 2003, when Saddam Hussein was removed from power, the people toppled one of his statues. Did you have the same feeling, that they should have kept his statue up? I never quite understood Columbus Day anyway. He didn't really "discover America" first, and we didn't even name America after him - that was Amerigo Vespucci. Why not have a Vespucci day instead?

Leftists changed the definition of "racism" to include the element of power.
JacksonNought comments on Jun 8, 2020:
It often comes down to semantics, which I find to be silly and prone to misunderstandings. A fair amount of those on the Left will define "racism" as a term for systematic racial prejudice, and being a "racist" is perpetuating that system, in which case there are no systematic barriers on white people due to race and therefore black people cannot be considered racist. No one says that black people cannot be prejudiced based on race, but they say it doesn't qualify for the term "racist". Now if you define "racism" simply as prejudice based on race, then yes absolutely black people can be racist. This is why I think the semantics of it can lead to more issues. You seem to agree that racism is bad, and that anyone can be prejudiced towards another based on race. Where you disagree is on the definition of "racism" which I don't think has been redefined any time recently, but again there seems to be a disagreement on the proper use of the term which can lead to these misunderstandings. I tend to prefer to use "racism" as any racial prejudice, and will qualify it with "systematic racism" when talking about the deep-seeded racism of the US and the leg-up white people are given.
The problem with demonstrations and riots is that they run out of control.
JacksonNought comments on Jun 8, 2020:
I can't really speak to what is happening in the UK, but I know what is happening in the US. It is interesting that you hear a lot of theories that these protesters are "actually a left wing inspired opportunistic attempt" or that "Democrats are morally bankrupt" and black people are being exploited and "BLM is not about improving the lives of black people"... In my opinion, this is all just an attempt to discredit and dismiss the injustice we are seeing. When you claim that the protests are not about unarmed black people being murdered by authorities (and yes, authorities is the crucial part here, so I don't want to hear about criminals killing criminals as an excuse), but rather an attempt at anarchy and a left-wing conspiracy, then you can start calling the protesters "terrorists" and start taking away their rights to peacefully assemble or speak out against tyranny. I wonder why you see so many videos of looting / rioting with no cops around to stop it... but then you see plenty of videos of people peacefully standing around (or even kneeling) with hundreds of cops starting to charge them, shooting people in the face with rubber bullets, "kettling" people to trap them, firing teargas at people already fleeing, etc. I wonder why these same people aren't coming up with theories about the lockdown protesters - you know, the white people armed to the teeth trying to storm the State Capitol and shouting (without masks) in the faces of police officers, with no police force being used against them? Where are the theories about them being funded by Adelson or Koch? Or being a right-wing opportunistic attempt? Or Republicans being morally bankrupt? Or not actually being about supporting individual rights and small businesses? Why are the same people who were outraged at being told to stay home due to the virus now championing forced curfews? Why are they now against protesting? Why are they freaking out that black people are protesting in the streets when they spent countless hours ranting about a football player silently taking a knee, telling them it wasn't the right way to protest?
Black Lives Matter developing highly trained 'military' arm to declare war on police- ...
JacksonNought comments on Jun 8, 2020:
The article says "they will send out armed 'Peace Officers' to 'patrol black communities"'... Sounds fine to me. If random white men can patrol the streets of Philadelphia with melee weapons, violating curfew, and the police ignore 911 calls of people being threatened by them in their own homes, then this is fine too. If white people can open carry and shout in police faces at the State Capitol, or casually browse a Walmart with an armed rifle, then I see no problem with black people open carrying. If Oath Keepers and 3 Percenters can patrol areas while heavily armed, I see no problem with BLM doing the same. You cannot be all in on 2nd Amendment rights of only one group, and for strict gun control of another.

What’s the Deal with Trump and Bibles/Churches
JacksonNought comments on Jun 3, 2020:
Trump has probably never opened a Bible in his life. He is a showman, and is playing to his most loyal following - evangelicals. He doesn't care if he alienates everyone else, as long as his base is happy. You will also find a good amount of people saying you aren't a real American if you aren't Christian. In America, it is "tradition" to swear oaths on the Bible, and many government officials will swear their oaths on the Bible. Recently, Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema decided to swear her oath of office on a US law book, not the Bible. You should have seen the hate she got for that all over the Internet, saying she should be disqualified and kicked out of office immediately. Let's also not forget the hate thrown on Obama, saying he was a "secret Muslim" and should be thrown out of office - as if it was illegal to be Muslim. He wasn't anyway, he is more of a Christian than Trump will ever be.

I have friends in Philly who saw the protests - a bunch of people peacefully walking down 676, not looting or rioting or anything, and the cops showed up and sprayed them with tear gas. As people ran away and were leaving the vicinity to escape the gas, they were fired upon with more tear gas. https://twitter.com/pkerkstra/status/1267570374528634887?s=20 The ones taking advantage of the looting and rioting, for whatever purpose, are despicable. Washington Post Publishes Article Noting Democrats Across the Nation Are Pushing Legislation to Make...
JacksonNought comments on Jun 1, 2020:
This article is very biased and seemingly intentional in its misleading account. No one wants to make it illegal to call the cops on someone who is black. Right now, hate crimes really only apply to direct violence. What Dems want to do is add the type of police call seen in the Cooper incident to the list of hate crimes. The woman specifically says "I'm going to tell them there's an African American man threatening my life". Her implication was that - and it is pretty substantiated these days - the police would most likely come in with forceful intent and the situation could end up with the man executed. The legislation is essentially criminalizing calling the police when crimes haven't occurred, some specifying calls that "unlawfully discriminate" or target protected classes. The woman wasn't directly harming him, but was essentially weaponizing a false report. Something akin to the "use of police power to enforce the racial order" when you have white people calling the cops on black people having a barbecue or something similar. It is no different than SWAT-ing, where you falsely report a life-threatening crime so heavily armed tactical units will swarm an innocent person's house. The legislation is trying to make penalties worse when the action directly leads to someone's death.

And now a black man is unjustly killed by a police officer, and when black people are once again complaining about the disgusting pattern they see, people like you have to come in and start trying to surface examples of black crime to try and silence them. Where was your outrage and posts before the death of Floyd? You also understand there is a fundamental difference between criminals committing gruesome murders, and police officers - who should be protecting us - committing blatant murder while on duty? How about instead of sharing examples of white people murdered by black people, you share examples of black cops using extreme force and murdering white people?

As a Satanist, I see over and over how Christians in America try to bury any other religion. The Supreme Court has ruled that certain religious actions in the public square are Constitutional if there is no favoritism / exclusion, yet the Christians try it anyway. When Satanists try to participate in city council meeting invocations, they are given the run-around with people saying they will never let it happen - when a group of Satanists were barred from participating in Arizona, they sued, and the city decided they'd rather waste taxpayer money in a frivolous lawsuit rather than allow their invocation. When a Ten Commandments monument was erected on public land in Arkansas, which led to a designated "free speech zone" for all viewpoints, the governor outright refused to let a Satanic monument join. With the blatant Judeo-Christian favoritism in this country, and the rampant attempts to quash other religious representation, freedom of speech is paramount. Without absolution, you would have people trying to censor Satanic views, trying to label them as evil and anti-American. This cannot stand.

JacksonNought comments on May 19, 2020:
America is not a "Christian Nation" nor were all of the Founders Christians - it is a nation found on Freedom of (and from) Religion where all religious viewpoints are to be treated equally and given equal accommodation. "Good news is that there are hundreds of thousands of young people flocking into mega churches" - you think mega churches are a good thing? Like those of Kenneth Copeland or Joel Osteen, where they spend all their parishioners hard earned money on private jets and their own private wealth? "Islamic potheads and crack addicts" - I am pretty sure Islam is against drugs? You seem to be laying some of the blame on people like your minister McClawhorn, who didn't think contemporary music was Christian. If anything, those people are more evangelical and fanatical than the typical Christian, and to them you are the one who is immoral. It isn't the fault of people "exploited by Democrats" - and you will find the far-right Christians are exploited by Republicans. For a so-called Libertarian, or at least someone posting on a Libertarian group, you seem highly critical of free-thinkers who do not subscribe to the majority Christian theology of many Americans and refuse to obey what they deem moral and immoral. What exactly is your solution?

When is someone expressing anti-Semitism?
JacksonNought comments on May 18, 2020:
I saw the original post. Seeing that it was on the RamZPaul group, I ignored it, because that seems to be a group for people who have a white nationalist / anti-Semitic slant. I have no need to be in that group, and respect their free speech, so I moved along. But yes, the original post does seem to have anti-Semitic undertones. Yes, it is calling out "OscarsSoWhite" and trying to call people hypocrites for not complaining about an over-representation of Jewish people in Hollywood, which on its face is a fair assertion, though there have always been issues with people acting as a race / heritage they are not (Fisher Stevens as an Indian man in Short Circuit, Mickey Rooney as a Japanese man in Breakfast at Tiffany's, Rachel Brosnahan as a very Jewish woman in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, etc). But then the point of the post seemed to be singling out Jewish actors and actresses, and complaining about them. There are comments likening Jewish people in movies to "propaganda" and some concept someone refers to as being "JQ aware"? You also have a comment calling Jewish people "a group who looks like us but is hostile and considers themselves something else" - a common talking point to try and "other" Jewish people to make them seem un-American and consider them "the enemy" and paint the only real American patriots as straight white Christians. To @Andyman, yes you are correct, Semite is a much broader term, but in modern lexicon the word "anti-Semitism" has pretty much been redefined to mean prejudice against Jews. The only "Jewish lobbying group" is really pro-Israel groups, which as a Jew myself, I am in full support that you can be against the acts of Israel as a country and not be anti-Semitic - you are only anti-Semitic if you are against Israel because they are Jewish, not because you disapprove of their policy or human rights or something like that. But yes, anti-Semitism is a huge issue these days, when you have neo-Nazis marching in the streets of Charlottesville and people with Swastika flags at Reopen Rallies.

Not that you actually wanted an answer, but the molecules that carry odors are significantly smaller than other molecules. This is why you can wash your hands vigorously after touching garlic, but they still smell - the garlic itself has been washed off, but the odor molecules remain. JacksonNought comments on May 7, 2020:
Yes, Atheists are absolutely discriminated against in the USA. In a 2019 poll, on 60% of people said they would vote for an Atheist as President. This was lower than the percentage for a Muslim person or a Gay/Lesbian person (no data on Trans or other identities), and 20% lower than the percentage of people who would vote for an Evangelical Christian. Catholic was 95%. Eight US State Constitutions include a variation of "no person who denies the existence of a Supreme Being shall hold any office in this state" or "the following persons shall be disqualified for office: first, any person who shall deny the being of Almighty God." While this in unenforceable, is it still on the books. Speaking of unenforceable laws which violate basic rights, sixteen states still have laws against sodomy - some including opposite-sex couples and married couples. Many state council meetings will start with a religious invocation, which was ruled Constitutional as long as there is no discrimination as to which groups can deliver it. However, when Atheists (but also Satanists and Muslims) try to get a chance to deliver these invocations, they are often denied - states have even gone to court and wasted taxpayer money on lawsuits in order to prevent these groups from speaking. Yes, this is more of a non-Judeo-Christian discrimination, but applies to Atheists as well. Also generic non-Judeo-Chrisitan discrimination, the Ten Commandments and other Christian monuments have been erected on government land, such as courthouses, which were deemed only Constitutional if other viewpoints are allowed to be presented with them - when other groups tried to add their viewpoint, the local government decided to ban the "free speech zones" altogether, rather than allow other viewpoints to be expressed. And prior to 2007, the US Department of Veterans Affairs refused to approve several symbols for use on its headstones, despite many years of petitions and lawsuits, erasing the religions (or lack-thereof) of dead soldiers who did not subscribe to their "approved" religions. In America, it is "tradition" to swear oaths on the Bible. Many government officials will swear their oaths on the Bible. Recently, Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema decided to swear her oath of office on a US law book, not the Bible. You should have seen the hate she got for that all over the Internet, saying she should be disqualified and kicked out of office immediately. One of our former Presidents, George HW Bush, is reported to have said "I don't know that atheists should be regarded as citizens, nor should they be regarded as patriotic. This is one nation under God." In family custody hearings, a parent's lack of faith has been used in arguments to sway the judges into supporting the opposing ...

JacksonNought comments on May 7, 2020:
Well said. The wealthy are completely corrupted by money, and will do whatever they can to continuously line their pockets, no matter who they hurt, because there is never enough. That is how you get people like the Trump family, who will exploit workers and defraud charities and corrupt the power of the presidency to enwealthen themselves. It is how you get people like Treasury Secretary Mnuchin using taxpayer money for his lavish lifestyle. It is how you get wealthy evangelists like Kenneth Copeland, Joel Osteen, and Pat Robertson, who are snake-oil salesmen stealing money from poor people with promises of guaranteed salvation, when they turn around and spend it on fleets of private jets and mansions. It is how you have wealthy conspiracy theorists like Alex Jones or Rush Limbaugh who try blame "secret Satanic cabals" and "false flag operations" to throw off the scent of their own corruption.

Good thing we (who live in the USA) have a Constitution and a First Amendment with Freedom of Religion. That means it doesn't matter what it says in the Bible - we don't need to follow it. So starting with that is pointless, why bring it into the equation at all? You immediately disenfranchise anyone of your political leaning who doesn't follow your religion. The video is correct - justice demands everyone be equal under the law. That is why we needed to fight for equal rights for women, minorities, gay people, etc who were not equal under the law, because "the Bible says" was enough for people to oppress.
I have a question for supporters of left wing politicians.
JacksonNought comments on Apr 28, 2020:
As others have said, you are making some assumptions there - that all left-wing politicians support One World Government or unfettered Communism. @Edgework here is making even more assumptions and mis-characterizations. I could just as easily rant and say that the Right doesn't actually debate. They believe they are morally superior and can justify anything by throwing out Bible quotes. Yes, the Right believes that opposing viewpoints are worthy of ridicule - throwing out terms like "libtard" and "DemonRats" and "snowflakes" and "soyboys" and needing to use silly nicknames like "Shillary" and "Nobama" and claiming Michelle Obama is a man every chance they get, choosing to attack a person rather than their ideals. The Right also legitimately believes that the opposing side is straight up evil and needs to be exterminated - calling them America haters, godless, sexual deviants, child-murdering Molechites, mentally unstable, the enemy of the people, etc. The Right wants you to believe that the only true patriots are white Christian conservative manly men walking around grocery stores with armored vests and assault rifles, and they have fantasies of a civil war where they can go around shooting everyone they don't like. The Right is all about personal freedoms and small government, but would gladly support laws to tell people what they can do in their own bedroom. The Right wants to go back to the "good old days" where women and minorities couldn't vote, where you could be arrested for being gay, and they want Trump to declare himself president for life. Yes, I could make very similar arguments about the Right as some do of the Left, using countless examples of people on the Right I see in real life. However, I won't stoop to making blanket statements based on anecdotal evidence, and don't believe my little rant above is indicative of everyone with a conservative viewpoint or the Right as a whole. You cannot shape your opinion of a group based on it's vocal minority. I am more than happy to converse with you as someone left-leaning, but it will be worthless if you presuppose my beliefs and tell me what I think. Now, I can't claim to know everything about the UN and their agenda, or what all left-leaning politicians support. But as others have said, not every liberal politician is (publicly) in support of One World Government, and definitely not Communism. Socialism and Communism are not the same thing, and I don't even know that any support changing to 100% Socialism. We have Socialism today - the fire department, police, social services, social security, medicare, etc are all forms of Socialism that exist in our society. Socialism is not a slippery slope to Communism any more than Capitalism is a slippery slope towards Oligarchy. I could ...
Try to think people! Trump is fighting against the UN One World Government, Chinese Communists, ...
JacksonNought comments on Apr 28, 2020:
First off, one would need to agree with your assessment of what Trump is "fighting against" as true. You need to believe there is some secret "Deep State" cult out there, and then you need to assume he is fighting against it and not part of it himself. You need to believe he is an authentic Christian, not just playing to his base, and that blatant Christian favoritism and a slippery slope towards Christian theocracy is a good thing. You have to believe he is fighting against pedophiles, and didn't cavort with Epstein himself (forgetting his on-air admission that he intentionally walked in on underage pageant contestants in the changing room). You have to believe that he supports US workers and companies, despite using undocumented immigrants in his golf resorts, previously getting his campaign merchandise made in China, his daughter Ivanka having her clothing line made in Chinese sweatshops, and being notorious for not paying people what he owed. He does fight, however, against renewable energy (which could be good for US self sufficiency) by claiming windmills cause cancer - thought it is probably because he doesn't like how they look, famously losing a case in Scottland where he sued to prevent windmills because he didn't want them to be visible from his golf resort. Now, with that out of the way, let me explain what I hate about his agenda. We can even ignore his blatant hypocrisy and compulsive lying, as his most fervent supporters will always excuse it away anyway - he didn't actually say that (even though it was on live tv or is still on Twitter), that isn't want he meant (then why do people always applaud him for saying what he means), he was just trolling the media and they ate it up (that's a great quality in the leader of the free world, how are we supposed to know when he is serious and when he is trolling), you're just not smart enough to understand his mental gymnastics, and so on... Ok, back to his agenda. He ran on building a wall at the southern border. Let's not even get into the whole "Mexico is paying for it" topic. It is a purely symbolic gesture steeped in racism. The overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants came into the country through legal means and overstayed their visas. And for those whole sneak across the border, time and time again we have seen ways that walls do nothing to stop them - we've seen people dig under them, climb them, cut holes in them, catapult drugs over them, etc. And yet Trump wants to build this wall anyway, harming the environment and kicking Americans out of their homes and essentially forfeiting American soil near the border. He claims to care about the average working Americans, but supports policies to line the pockets of his wealthy friends. He wants massive tax cuts for the rich. ...

Atheists believe in God.
JacksonNought comments on Apr 20, 2020:
Your arguments are consistently flawed. A man is found dead. His brother is accused of murder, and put on trial. Defense says he didn't kill the man, prosecutor argues he did. No matter what either of them say, it doesn't change what really happened - how the man died. Maybe the brother killed him, maybe someone else killed him, maybe it was natural causes, whatever - there is an objective truth as to what happened, regardless of anyones interpretation. That isn't a god. That is what we mean by the truth - that there is an objective truth to things, unchanging no matter how people want to interpret and twist it to fit their narrative. The truth doesn't change over time, only what people believe the truth is. Your assertion that Atheists believe in a god is just plain wrong. No amount of sophistry will change that. Also, if you believe nothing lasts forever, then you do not believe in a god - as a god cannot be a god if it cannot be eternal.

Ben and Franklin Graham. "Why Is Secularism On the Rise?" [youtu.be]
JacksonNought comments on Apr 16, 2020:
This is ridiculous. It's such a tired argument that people are non-religious / non-affiliated because they just want to live without consequence and think life will be more "fun" if they reject the Judeo-Christian god. It goes back to the condescending position of Evangelicals that "there are no Atheists" just because their god apparently said that everyone knows he exists, and so Atheists are calling him a liar and just rejecting him for selfish purposes. Sorry, but the rise of Secularism is mostly the fault of the Evangelicals and other pushy religious groups. We see how religion has been used to justify things in the past, such as slavery, anti-miscegenation, and more recently "traditional marriage", and that perhaps in a free society (with freedom of religion) we shouldn't be basing all of our laws on a single group's archaic texts. For a Libertarian, Ben Shapiro seems like he is fine with government overreach to enforce his religious viewpoint. Is Graham seriously saying that there needs to be more Christians in government, in politics, on school boards, etc? He is arguing that there isn't enough Christian representation? Are you kidding me? The overwhelming majority of representatives in public office are Christian, and govern with clear Christian-favoritism, such as barring secular invocations from council meetings or wasting government resources to pass bills declaring it "the year of the Bible" or erecting Ten Commandments monuments at courthouses. If anything, we need more non-Christian representation. Also, Ben, you can quote all the statistics you want to imply that non-religion hurts society. Does that change the objective truth? Atheists do not believe in your god. Just because you say people are happier and there is less drug use or whatever when society is religious, does that change whether your religion is true or not? Why does your religion get precedence, and not any of the other many religions? And should Atheists be forced to pretend to believe what they do not just because it will make you happy? As for believing in a god making people better and less likely to like "evil wicked sinful" lives, the great Penn Jillette once said: "The question I get asked by religious people all the time is, without God, what’s to stop me from raping all I want? And my answer is: I do rape all I want. And the amount I want is zero. And I do murder all I want, and the amount I want is zero. The fact that these people think that if they didn’t have this person watching over them that they would go on killing, raping rampages is the most self-damning thing I can imagine. I don't want to do that. Right now, without any god, I don't want to jump across this table and strangle you. I have no desire to strangle you. I have no desire to flip...

The whole "orange" thing is because he is extremely vain and self-conscious, and applies so much bronzer on his face that he comes off as an unnatural shade of orange. Most of the low-bar superficial criticisms of Trump are because he is a huge hypocrite when it comes to them: he will call people fat, when he himself is overweight; he will criticize someone's intelligence and claim he is a genius, when all evidence says otherwise; he call people liars when he himself has been shown to be a compulsive liar. But I digress. How about we leave out the petty insults and only focus on actions and opinions? Also, the despicable lie about Michelle being a man, and Obama being gay, their kids adopted, etc... for a platform that is supposed to encourage the betterment of society and free and thoughtful civil discourse... you really just show that you are to be ignored and contribute nothing.

JacksonNought comments on Apr 15, 2020:
Wouldn't a more proper analogy be that the Atheist has an intact blindfold, whereas the Christian has a blindfold with an extremely tiny pinhole in it? After all, Christians do not believe in the some 10,000+ gods that other world religions believe in - they are Atheists to all gods except their own. Real Atheists just believe in one less god than them. Heck, Christians can't even agree on the same interpretation of the Bible among themselves. It is more like an Atheist has a blindfold on, and rather than attempting to see in order to fight, accepts that they cannot and will rely on their other senses to assist them. The Christian refuses to rely on any other senses, having absolute faith that they will be able to find the pinhole in their blindfold and use it to see as if they didn't have one on.
