"They knew who he was, they didn’t want to arrest him, and 15 minutes that ended." Trump literally sent his men to execute a suspect. Not arrest him and bring him in, the intent was to kill him. Compare that to Kyle Rittenhouse, who was arrested. @Tarpon I may have a bias against Christianity, but that's because it is the dominant religion in the USA and people try to force it on others and use it for discrimination. I have similar issues with other religions (Judaism, Islam, etc) but they don't cause the same kind of issues as Christianity does in the USA. I am fine with guiding principles. I am fine with using Enlightenment values. The Constitution, as it stands, is fine with me - as long as it is actually executed sincerely.

Patreon kicked off all sex workers when it changes its policies on NSFW content. Jaclyn Glenn made a YouTube video criticizing a Kenneth Copeland video in which he spread lies about COVID and claimed to "blow" COVID away with his powers. YouTube took down Jaclyn's video, but left Copeland's up. Other Liberal YouTubers tend to get de-monetized when they criticize Christian YouTubers who call gay people evil - but those Christian YouTube videos keep their monetization. Let's not pretend that the Left is never de-platformed or made the targets of "big tech censorship". I've never seen the Conservative talking-heads complain about this stuff before, using the examples I provided - they only take issue when they are personally affected. This is the true example of gaslighting, lying, and cheating. In the protest that took place at the Capitol yesterday, police let people past barriers, took selfies with people who stormed the Capitol, and then let them leave without issue. Trump called them patriots and said he loved them. One of these things is not like the other. What do you think that is?

Just as I am sure there were people in DC yesterday who came just to protest, and had no intention of storming the Capitol. But if you condemn the unsavory actions during BLM, you must condemn what happened at the Capitol. You must also question why police tactics were extremely different, both in preparation for a known protest, as well as in response, escalation, dispersion, and brutality. Here you can see an *actually* peaceful demonstration for BLM, holding a violin vigil. Police came and started using extreme force to disperse the crowd and attack people. I've already shared police shooting at people on their porches and at their windows during BLM protests. Yet yesterday people stormed the Capitol, vandalized and looted, and threatened democracy - and the police just let them waltz out, even took selfies with them.

When a group of people push past police and break windows and doors down to storm the US Capitol building to interrupt a government proceeding, it is no longer peaceful. If you defended people shooting at trespassers during the BLM riots, you cannot cry foul about this woman being shot for trying to break into the Capitol. I am sure there were Democrats who thought the election was rigged in 2016, but you didn't have Hillary saying so for months and putting the idea in her supporters' heads that their vote was stolen. Trump has been railing for months that he won "in a landslide" and that everything was rigged, with no evidence to back it up. You have people throwing out failed narratives about rally sizes or eligible voters or county numbers to make it seem as if there was no way Biden could have won. You even had Trump claim for pretty much the entire election cycle that the "only way" he could lose was if the election was rigged. There was a genuine concern for the serious questions. Recounts happened. Lawsuits were brought to court, including the SCOTUS. They all failed because they did not provide proper evidence, they didn't actually accuse fraud, they had stumbling Trump podcasters as witnesses, there was disgraced lawyer Powell with her Hugo Chavez conspiracy... and of course Rudy, the biggest joke of a "lawyer" we've seen in modern history. Of course there will always be people who think their side was robbed of a victory. But this is something completely new, because Trump can't come to terms with his loss, and is throwing a temper tantrum. He tried to strong-arm Georgia into "finding" just enough votes for him to win the state. He straight-up lied and said Pence could and would change the EC results and hand Trump the win. Make no mistake, Trump is responsible for how far things have escalated.

@MichelleD because it is unfortunately true. You cannot tell me that if a large group of Black men tried storming the Capitol, the police response wouldn't have been exponentially worse. It doesn't even have to be Black men, but people supporting Black causes - such as BLM. The difference between police response to BLM protests this past Summer vs armed people breaking into the US Capitol while government action was taking place is staggering. We have even identified several of the people who were breaking windows and stealing items like the Speaker's podium - none have been arrested so far. I don't want to make it a race thing, it just is. By the way, I choose to respond to you, since you are at least engaging in civil debate and have been understanding, even if we disagree. I'd recommend you distance yourself from the others like Tom and Edgework who just throw out Ad Hominem attacks and don't actually contribute.
