The Project's co-host brutally shut down by US actor - YouTube
KeithThroop comments on Oct 22, 2020:
He politely explained why he didn't want to make a comment that could easily be taken out of context and misconstrued, and they said that he "brutally shut down" the woman who was interviewing him? "Brutally"? Really? I've seen brutality in my lifetime, and I can assure you it looks nothing like that. Good grief! These people need to grow up already. πŸ™„

Perils of social isolation: Suicides up among young people in Wisconsin's second largest county.
KeithThroop comments on Oct 21, 2020:
Suicide has become such a problem in our society. It is so sad. I fear the root causes, however, run much deeper in our society that just the pressure and isolation of the lockdowns. These may be the immediate cause of many suicides, but I seriously doubt that they are the ultimate cause. It seems to me that people with a strong moral foundation and a deep sense of hope are not usually those so adversely affected by such things, and such people are generally people of faith who come from strong families. I have begun to think about this quite a bit as a veteran, for example, who knows that there are about 17 U.S. veterans per day who commit suicide, and I suspect that this rate has only gone up with the lockdowns. I would like better statistics than I've been able to find, but it seems to me that suicide is on the rise among veterans just as it is among the civilian population. For example, I don't recall WW2 or Korean War veterans committing suicide at the rate that veterans do today, and I can't help but think that there are cultural changes that factor into it.

WHO DARES CALL US SINNERS?
KeithThroop comments on Oct 19, 2020:
> But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus .... (Rom. 3:21-24 NKJ) > > If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. (1 Jn. 1:8-10 NKJ) It wasn't Satan who said those things. Although it is true that his name means *accuser*, as you have said, and that he does indeed *falsely* accuse believers despite their having been justified by grace through faith, it is God Himself who *truly* accuses as of sin and calls to repentance and faith in Christ in the first place. Also, even as believers, God calls upon us to confess our sins and to seek forgiveness when we do sin.

Super Woke Update: University Votes to Stop Calling Its English Department the ENGLISH Department...
KeithThroop comments on Oct 17, 2020:
> Oh, please. Does anyone with a modicum of intelligence confuse the name of an English department to mean “a department where we learn about ENGLAND”? The answer to that rhetorical question is, of course, "No! No one with a modicum of intelligence would confuse the name of an English department with "a department where we learn about england.'" But, here's the thing, those Ivy League elite snobs at Cornell University don't really think the rest of us do have a modicum of intelligence. We do, however, and we also have enough sense to see that years of academic study don't necessarily equate with having a modicum of common sense or wisdom. πŸ˜‰
The Islamic religion is in need of a reformation by whatever means necessary. [euronews.com]
KeithThroop comments on Oct 17, 2020:
Typically, when one uses the word "reformation" to refer to a religion, it indicates that the religion should get back to its original, unadulterated form. Is that what we really want for Islam? As I see it, those that have that mindset are precisely the problem. It is the nominal adherent of Islam, the type that a true Muslim would think needs reformation, who doesn't see the need for things like jihad or martyrdom.

Fukushima: Japan 'to release contaminated water into sea' [bbc.com]
KeithThroop comments on Oct 16, 2020:
> Environmental and fishing groups oppose the idea but many scientists say the risk it would pose is low. > > The government says no final decision has been made. > > The release of more than a million tonnes of water, which has been filtered to reduce radioactivity, would start in 2022 at the earliest, according to Japanese media outlets including national dailies the Nikkei and the Yomiuri Shimbun. > > The water would be diluted inside the plant before release so it is 40 times less concentrated, the Yomiuri Shimbun said, with the whole process taking 30 years. I don't see how the scientists who say that "the risk it would pose is low" could possibly know the real risks that 30 years of releasing radioactive water into the ocean would entail. I do know, however, that the ocean doesn't belong to Japan, and I really don't think they should be allowed to release such water without at least consulting with other nations around the Pacific rim.

KeithThroop comments on Oct 13, 2020:
> The law would allow land to be confiscated without reimbursement in certain cases if it is unused, abandoned or poses a safety risk .... There are potential loopholes there large enough to drive a Mack truck through. Who gets to decide when property is "unused," and what are the criteria for such decisions? Who decides when a property is "abandoned," and what are the criteria for such decisions? Who decides when a property is "poses a safety risk," and what are the criteria for such decisions? But then there is also the basic issue that, whatever the use or non-use of the land, it actually *already belongs to someone*, and they should be able to do what they want with it, or not do anything at all with it, if they choose, so long as they are not breaking any laws. And, even then, it should still be very hard to simply take their property from them. If I were one of those land owners, I would not be reassured at all when reading this article. I would see it as a description of their attempt to make their landgrabs appear more reasonable and just when they are clearly anything but that.

However, since then he has proven himself to me, and he has my enthusiastic vote this time around. And, by the way, I know a lot of other conservative Evangelical Christians such as myself who didn't vote for him last time buy are going to vote for him this time. In neither case, then or now, did we believe the media.

What a great interview! I never seem to tire of listening to Condi Rice. She is always very enlightening. I'm remembering now that she once said that her dream job would be commissioner of the NFL. I sure wish she had that job now, but perhaps she would turn it down now, if offered, because she seems to dedicated to this new job.
