Welcome to the group. I have zero experience with CNC machines in person so I probably will be of little help. A lot of this depends on what parts you are wanting to make, shapes and materials. I am guessing that a milling machine would likely be where you would want to look, for home machines many people convert manual mills to CNC. Seig X2 is a common mini mill that is sold through many companies, it is limited in its capacity and rigidity but it does work for many things. As far as commercially available CNC mills there is Sherline which are very small, and Tormach which maybe out of your price range (they are out of mine). If your parts are only out of aluminum you could likely make them on a CNC router. If your parts are going to be mostly cylinders than you would be looking for a lathe probably. Lathes and mills can overlap on capabilities to some extent but they are definitely better at certain things. Your price point will make a big difference in the machines rigidity.
