College trustee under fire for straight pride parade speech says she won't quit- [nj.com]
RobBlair comments on Nov 14, 2019:
"“Straight pride is not about civil rights. It is about mockery,” Charlie Bondhus, an associate professor of English, told the board." - Hey, maybe English professors do know something? Perhaps one could also argue that gay pride parades are also about mockery? “Children need stability, not confusion and indoctrination," - Wow, there is hope from New Jersey. Of course this is said by the black woman they want lynched. "Referencing Nace, O’Donnell said, “it is easy to call for a dialogue when you’re not the one being harmed by it.”" - she says without an ounce of introspection.

2020: a Libertarian President? Voters want a third party- [thelibertarianrepublic.com]
RobBlair comments on Nov 13, 2019:
People want a balanced budget too until you start getting specific. I contend that if a libertarian presidential candidate can't primary a republican they will most certainly never be elected (assuming that is even the goal). What libertarian message do you think resonates with the left half of the electorate that wants to take away your guns, make you pay for other kids free college, give expensive healthcare to every one who shows up in our country, etc...? The article makes it fairly clear, if you want a 3rd party, the room is there on the left. A socialist party is already in the Democratic primary under Sanders and Warren (disingenuous as she is). The green party is being given lip service, but its well represented. Except for the Libertarians inability to confer freedom to the unborn, they have little to say that will capture any on the Left and even there you'd have to up the ante by allowing state sponsored executions of even the born as with Virginia and New York. "2020 could be a contest between a socialist and a sociopath." Sure - Trump is a sociopath because the media tells you that ceaselessly. Just what do you think happens when your ideal pristine untested Libertarian threatens the Democrat and becomes their target? Give me more Rand Pauls.
A different take on postmodernism. [vox.com]
RobBlair comments on Nov 12, 2019:
If truth exists then there is still a meta-narrative to follow and post modernism is defunct. Yes, our perception of truth is varied and often flawed. But, the excuse that postmodernism provides, that we must ingest lies and allow ourselves to be fed false narratives, will be of little solace when we eventually hit ground after jumping from the cliff. It is contingent upon each individual to cull the liars from their lives and face the harshness of reality with courage.

Instead of a spectrum I would suggest a circle with authoritarian connected to anarchy. The despot and the anarchist are both outside the control of laws and the difference is simply a matter of size. I consider the free market a democracy with buyers and sellers deciding on individual terms for each trade. And, the seller trades a product for more votes/money. The buyer and seller are encouraged to be educated and participation is voluntary for each transaction.

We have even been advised locally thatthe best way to get our supplies u~ the river would be to fly the Turkish flag, which would be respected by the tribesmen." - Winston Churchill "Churchill came to believe that giving the Kurds their own independent territory would be contradictory to the British desire to retain control of the oil rich area, and to the Arab aspiration to rule the entirety ofIraq. Another concern that vexed Churchill was the persistent threat of Soviet intervention in Persia, which forced the Secretary to maintain a large military presence in the area to thwart any attempt by the Soviets to seize the oil-rich country. This large military presence ran contrary to his desire to reduce the large standing British armies in the theater due to the enormous cost to the treasury." - https://ntrl.ntis.gov/NTRL/dashboard/searchResults/titleDetail/ADA491318.xhtml#

RobBlair comments on Nov 8, 2019:
What makes it harder for college students and other transient people to vote, in this case, is establishing residency. Each locality (Democrat and Republican) provides its own rules for determining who is included as part of the group and who isn't. As a resident, that person has skin in the game for electing local officials, establishing local state sponsored charities (like reduced college tuition for state colleges), local taxes, etc... A record number of college educated students are graduating with useless degrees that they can't afford to pay back. They are financially strapped, unable to make a living and are looking forward to life choices that provide little hope. I want the next generation to rise into a hopeful future where they can meaningfully participate. The left only seems to think about capturing this voting block with the promise of "free." It is a harder sell but the future of both those options seem obvious: Plumbers, carpenters and mechanics with a prospering family life or ungrateful college grad protesters who live alone.

Public incitement of hatred 319 (1) - Every one who, by communicating statements in any public place, incites hatred against any identifiable group where such incitement is likely to lead to a breach of the peace is guilty of: [a] an indictable offence and is liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years; or [b] an offence punishable on summary conviction. Identifiable group means any section of the public distinguished by colour, race, religion, national or ethnic origin, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or mental or physical disability. Thoughts - Does incitement require intent? Subsection (2) is entitled "Wilful Promotion of Hatred" and provides a glaring contrast to section (1) above which has no language that requires intent. What is the threshold for "likely to lead to a breach of the peace"? I'd suggest that any historical connection between certain language and violence would set an appropriate threshold. What should Canada do? Plan A, get rid of Boy Thureau is apparently too difficult. Plan B, enforce this law mercilessly. Any and every public statement that contains even a hint of saltiness, from any leftist organization, college, or supporter of this lunacy should be hauled up for trial. Freedom loving Canadians should start a legal "defence" fund to promote the prompt removal of this statute. In this case, the promotion of the rainbow poppy is inciting hatred towards the Veterans of Canada and people with a normal sexual orientation. Charge the authors of that promotion under this statute and get the popcorn popper going.

You could have the boy's sports, the girl's sports and then a new category called the non-trans girl's sports (aka girl's sports). I know what you're thinking though, "what happens when the boy who now identifies as a trans girl says he's a non-trans girl?" At that point, the girls return to the girl's sports teams (I suggest a flip sign for the locker rooms) and the boy who identifies as a trans girl who now identifies as a non-trans girl can be on his very own team and win first place every time. I know I know, because "What happens if there are two boys who identify as trans girls and only one chooses to re-identify as a non-trans girl? In that case I'd ask all of the boys on the boys teams to re-identify as girls (either trans or non-trans) and then ask the girls to re-identify as boys. I would think the non-cheating noble boys on the other teams would also accommodate this lunacy dance.

On the other hand, instead of working to reverse this devastating statistic, white fathers are joining in. A great opportunity to open an important dialog that our secular amoral schools are allergic too. Perhaps lashing out against this student and his parent(s) is their only defense. Even so, the ideas that: - A 7 year old knows things is quite silly. - His mother, a licensed doctor specializing in pediatrics, should engage in encouraging this behavior, is evil. - A whole Psychology college that affirms physical treatment for children under the age of consent is evil. I want to believe the father but I can wait for more of my people to read the court transcript and report on what transpired. I don't need to wait to fully condemn this institutional child abuse and the college of Psychology that supports this practice. We do have a social responsibility, on the state level, to legislate against this. Something to the effect of "any medical doctor, who recommends or performs transitioning to a patient under the age of 18 shall be subject to removal of license, fine and potential jail." They can't vote for our next jack ass but we're to believe that they can decipher and navigate through the minefield that gender identity has become.
Can't say I trust polls anymore.

What a bunch of water buffaloes. My first amendment questionnaire: 1. Do you think hate speech, especially offensive hate speech should be punished by fine or prison? 2. What do you think of our current president? 3. I find your answer to number 2 hateful and, in light of your answer to number 1, am now charging you with hate speech.

RobBlair comments on Oct 23, 2019:
He is an elected official trying to understand and parse his responsibilities in an appropriate manner. If his constituents disagree they can elect someone else. Of course, one way to get rid of a bad law is to enforce it mercilessly. As an official he could red flag law every legislator that passed that garbage. See how they like it.

When Medical Debt Collectors Decide Who Gets Arrested
RobBlair comments on Oct 23, 2019:
"Since the Affordable Care Act of 2010, prices for medical services have ballooned" - let that sink in "Three nearby hospitals in this rural region have closed in the past several years" - if you want a nearby hospital people need to pay their bills. "“I haven’t received a bill,” he told me, slouched over his turquoise shorts. “The only thing I received was this summons.”" - sounds like an adequate defense to me. "it’s great that cash bail is applied to the debt." - Totally disagree. "I asked him whether he thought that the system in Coffeyville was effectively imprisonment for debt, in a country that has outlawed debtors’ prisons. “The only thing they’re in jail for is not appearing,” he replied. “I do my job, I follow the law. You just have to show up in court.”" - a summons once every three months is harassment.

Unless these violations end with people being fired, they will continue. By the by, people in government rarely get fired. Restrict access to these recordings to one single person. That person is responsible for dissemination. Any improper dissemination and that person gets fired. Dissemination is logged and available for FOIA (except under court ordered suppression) after 5 years for organizations like the ACLU to review.
Any thought on this TV ad?
RobBlair comments on Oct 21, 2019:
As a father who has already failed your child's life by not marrying or staying married to her mother, you now need to respond positively to the child's whims and fancies in order to buy her favor. One way to do this is to pretend that the overpriced, horrid non-meat substitutes are "yummy." (cheaper than the pony in the paddock). Actually a great ad for telling fathers to suck it up and be a man or you'll have to eat disgusting non-meat substitutes while you slowly watch your children disavow your ball-less delusional self and engage with fringe lunatics like Antifa in order to find meaning in life. Such a fun exercise!

RobBlair comments on Oct 18, 2019:
These are issues adults don't find agreement on. Downgrading a student on politically divisive concerns is not appropriate. However, asking leading questions to get the child to find the truth on their own is invaluable. A good teacher will raise students that can argue both sides of contentious issues. Suspending a teacher because of this, meh.
