I agree, this situation should have been handled differently!!! First, the suspect was obviously higher than a kite, therefore unreasonable and in his own little world!!! He was not going to listen to ANY commands!!! He was not in fear of the guns pointed at him or the K-9 dog!!!! K-9 dogs are trained to handle this type of situation and are there to reduce to danger to the officers!!! When the suspect was on the hood of the car, the K-9 officer should have let the DOG handle the suspect!!! That would have ended this situation, and the worst injury would have been a dog bite!!!! I am speaking from years of experience as a SGT. in charge of a K-9 dog, and K-9 unit of 8 officers and dogs!!! This is exactly the (one of many) types of incident K-9's were trained for!!!!!!! In todays world, I know why this incident went the way it did, LEO are always wrong, no matter what they do, so they wait until all options are taken from them!!!!!! Damned glad I got out over 20 years ago!!!
