If there had been social media at the start of the industrial revolution, we would already have thousands of recordings by the endless "Chicken Little's" of the World that the sky is falling. Of course there are REAL dangers, however little we can do about them. One day an asteroid will make a LEE on Earth and the doomsayers will be right that day. Who will care? Until then, I have to live my life and should pay attention to who I can trust, so I'll make some effort to remember who was hysterical. And I'll be dancing.

Perfect ticket. Republicans could field Daffy Duck and beat them. Democrats have been shifting in their seats over Clinton's way-too-obvious corruption since Trump won. Among other reasons, their effort to marginalize Trump is probably their way to seek more comfort with her - although I doubt most of them are conscious of it. And anyone familiar with Bloomberg's gaffs knows they are only beginning to surface.

Gender has nothing to do with excellence, performance, nor values - neither in politics, nor in STEM fields. Seeking to "normalize" gender is like trying to make the moon revolve in a different direction. There are real concerns and a smart person is engaged in them, not gender issues.

Some of you have noticed the fact that because the Air Force is looking into UFOs as a matter of National Security, it must by law not comment on the results of its findings. If Harry Reid had caused the FBI to look into it instead, the results could have been made public. Some of us wonder if he was intending to create the impression of a cover-up, or if he's so dumb to have not realized the effect of his choice.

The increase in lawlessness in America today is a direct result of people in power behaving beyond the rules, and they are justified by unrestrained contempt by the media for their law-abiding opposition. Its obvious to anyone who is interested in the truth that the Democrat leadership is corrupt and not the least interested in fairness. They are only interested in power and will lie and defraud as required to manipulate their gullible idealistic base. And they will stop at nothing to destroy anyone who threatens their power. The "Resist" movement is the embodiment of that lawless spirit.

Don’t let fools tell you what to think. Question EVERYONE who wants you to tear down something that works, except for the crucial fact that it can't change human nature, as if anything can. History shows us that each new generation thinks the previous generation was too unwise to achieve utopia, and that the current generation can and should, and that they are justified in condemning and killing everone who disagrees, and breaking everything until they do.

Republican platform in a nutshell: Preserve and defend the Constitution. Democrat platform in a nutshell: Throw out the Constitution so it does not limit the power that the Democrat leadership enjoys by pandering to their gullible utopian idealist base by any means, including fraud, accusing Republicans of the tactics Democrats use, and intimidation with its militant wing - once the KKK, now Antifa.

Liberals seem to believe there "should' be a better way, but without considering the consequences of trashing the best system ever devised by humans to deal with human flaws. So they believe that every deception, lie and fraud is justified to achieve their utopia, even though their solutions like socialism have killed more human souls than any other except Islam. Brilliant. The truth is that they are the only ones lying. That makes their high ideals fraud and they are the bad guys, and delude themselves otherwise. They can't face that and blame Trump and Republicans. Taking responsibility is totally foreign to them.

Modern thinkers “...revived the sense of the collective power of human communities. Man, formerly too humble, begins to think of himself as almost a God. In all this I feel a grave danger, the danger of what might be called cosmic impiety. The concept of "truth" as something dependent of facts largely outside human control has been one of the ways in which philosophy hitherto has inculcated the necessary element of humility. When this check upon pride is removed, a further step is taken on the road toward a certain kind of madness - the intoxication of power which invaded philosophy with Fichte, and to which modern men, whether philosophers or not, are prone. I am persuaded that this intoxication is the greatest danger of our time, and that any philosophy which, however unintentionally, contributes to it is increasing the danger of vast social disorder.” - Bertrand Russell.

What's everyones thoughts on the UK leaving the EU??
TimTuolomne comments on Feb 12, 2020:
Every study on group ethics shows that accountability utterly disappears in any group of human beings over a few thousand souls. What reasonable person believes it will improve in a global government??? Our own country is now far larger than envisioned by our founders, and accountability is nearly absent. In their incredibly insightful vision, our founders wrote into the Constitution that the States were supposed to be the center of power in the United States - hence the name. We are not named “ The Republic of America”. Democrats have ignored and in some cases changed the laws to subvert that concept. We must reverse that trend if we are to return to accountable government. The UK is returning to more accountable government. We should do the same by decentralizing power here.

What's going on around the country with the gun laws is equivalent to the prohibition on alcohol.

Well said. It has also been said that you can't legislate morality. Prohibition is the proof. When government endeavors to control the majority will, only tyranny will suffice. True Democratic Republics already reflect the majority will.

Facebook is structured to limit dispersion to a few dozen people at most. If none of them are influenced by your ideas, they die in the medium. Twitter is often insufficient space to freely develop a cogent idea. My hope is that this space enjoys wide dispersion, so ideas of merit will propogate, and our social intelligence will expand instead of become funnelled into predetermined directions, as clearly is occurring on Facebook.
