It's this simple. In modern capitalism we: 1. Bid up the assets of the wealthy 2. Cut the taxes on the passive income the wealthy make from their assets 3. Divest from public goods It's a way to engineer similar to historical rates of return for the wealthy as the population ages and educational attainment increases among "middle class" young people. The latter would empower workers if they weren't kept precarious by debt, underemployment, and unaffordable public goods. A ten year old could figure it out.

Most (80%) won't inherit even a dollar in their lifetime.
WilyRickWiles replies on Feb 13, 2021:
@Naomi I certainly have savings from my own income and since 2016 have pulled all of them out of the stock market. I have also refrained from buying another home and becoming a landlord due to the moral hazards involved. I never bought a car since my old used one perished in an accident (not my fault) though I am feeling the need to be more mobile in the pandemic world. I am not a big consumer. I am continuing to donate more money to causes I support every year. And I am shifting from the traditional approach of saving almost every dollar for retirement toward using my money to improve my standard of living and to make a difference now. I am a bit frozen on what to invest in. Occassionally, I will bet on the downward direction of a company that I dislike. Another thought is to invest in companies that deal in social goods that would inevitably be nationalized in a fully realized social democracy. Such companies are subject to neoliberalism's perverse incentives toward hyperefficiency but are less likely to be involved in imperialism or far right politics. But there is the uncertainty brought by the Fed's policy of asset inflation. Prices will inevitably come down if that ever stops or is refocused into social goods. And of course it would be bad for my savings if any nationalization didn't compensate shareholders. And part of me wonders if with so much liquidity, concentrated at that, a shrinking rate of return on investment, and increasing data available on individuals (insert 5G conspiracy theories here) awaiting financialization, if the stock market is becoming more of a management system for concentrated wealth, with capital for investment returns injected by the Fed, than an investment system.

WilyRickWiles replies on Feb 12, 2021:
@govols There's always some distribution of ages, the age distribution doesn't have sudden fluctuations, inheritance is by definition inherited--i.e. inheritors are more likely to bequeath--and the percentage has been stable over time. If millennials were starting to inherit at a higher rate, this percentage would start to increase, especially now that they have become the largest living generation. To be more rigorous you could probably account for likelihood by age and age distribution changes, or study different cohorts over time, but it's unlikely that would change the result too much.

To be clear, I'm not claiming that Israel is a primary supporter of these forces, just that they do support them. None of those points are antisemitic. I raise the point because the original poster conflates the real antisemitism of the "trolls" on this site with criticism of Israel and is blind to his and Israel's complicity in the "trolling."

There's no unity with white supremacists. No spirituality fixes dozens of billionaires and establishment Republican figures working to clear the path for the next generation of demagogues.
