Democrats are the party of billionaires and corporate donors.
WilyRickWiles comments on Nov 29, 2020:
And so are the Republicans (even more so).
WilyRickWiles replies on Nov 29, 2020:
@RMSPT Are you talking about donors, supporters, or conflating the two?
Happy Thanksgiving! This morning, I give thanks to Karl Marx for giving the world socialism.
wolfhnd comments on Nov 29, 2020:
Look at Marx's personal life if you want to know what motivated him. He was a parasite, sexual abuser, lazy and irresponsible, terrible manager, and failure. He certainly was not the kind of person that makes for health, productive and happy communities.
WilyRickWiles replies on Nov 29, 2020:
@wolfhnd Who am I criticizing? You're the one criticizing people here--I criticize systems of power.

Can you clarify, do you think Biden committed election fraud? And not just to win but to distract Trump and the public?
WilyRickWiles replies on Nov 28, 2020:
@Hanno You've got me wrong. I'm moving on from all of the circuses and am focusing on rooting my politics in the material needs, power dynamics, and policies of my community, which are little different from those anywhere else in the neoliberal sphere. From there, I hope to have a better understanding of the conflicts happening outside of it.
This can't possibly be true... is it?

WilyRickWiles replies on Nov 28, 2020:
@Hanno You missed your own point by insisting that there was mass election fraud before making the seemingly incompatible claim that it is a mere distraction. You may not have noticed that aside from your post here, I have been ignoring the whole election fraud circus. Are you trying to have your cake and eat it too or did you unintentionally undermine your own argument?
Distractions.

WilyRickWiles replies on Nov 28, 2020:
@Hanno If any of this were legitimate, why would they send Sidney Powell and file such ridiculous legal arguments? I think you've fallen victim to the legal and media PR that is The Donald's M.O.
Distractions.

Rick-A comments on Nov 27, 2020:
That was a very enlightening speech.
WilyRickWiles replies on Nov 28, 2020:
@Rick-A That's a reductive and ultimately nihilistic argument that only leads to violence and collapse of civilization. I am just a white male professional from a working class family who wants my interests and those of my neighbors to be represented and for society to be more conducive to community rather than atomization. Not to mention that the political right has lost its mind and is liable to get us all killed. I'd like to avoid that.

WilyRickWiles replies on Nov 28, 2020:
@Rick-A You know, you sound just like an establishment Democrat. I try to have a conversation with them about poor turnout and registration of working class Black people and Latinos, and they think I'm blaming people of color. No, I'm blaming the actions, the poor strategy, of the people in power, in not appealing to diverse working people and not supporting grassroots organizers. Likewise, for this argument I'm not blaming white people collectively, I'm blaming the actions of people in power, which had racist intent and outcome. And I'm calling attention to the racist history connoted by your language, which is commonly used as a dog whistle.
This can't possibly be true... is it?
Rick-A comments on Nov 27, 2020:

WilyRickWiles replies on Nov 28, 2020:
@Rick-A Historically, the black community centered in Bronzeville in Chicago was physically, legally, and economically restrained to an area on one side of what are today the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks. The most glaring example is Fuller Park, a several blocks-wide neighborhood pinned between those tracks and the Dan Ryan Expressway, with racist white gangs on one side in Canarywille and highly concentrated public housing (much of which was subject to disinvestment and is now being redeveloped) on the other. Cf. the infamous story of Lenard Clark in 1997 https://www.nytimes.com/1997/03/27/us/chicago-neighborhood-reveals-an-ugly-side.html and the Chicago race riots of 1919. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_race_riot_of_1919
