Have you guys heard of the boogaloo boys?
WilyRickWiles comments on Aug 26, 2020:
The shooter was a 17-year old blue lives matter type who answered Alex Jones's LARPing call and joined the boogaloo boys playing cop outside a gas station. He shot a brawler in the head who chased him after they had been arguing all night. Then when bystanders tried to citizens arrest him, he shot ...

@pnw1234 I've seen the videos. In the first case, the brawler guy was chasing him and may have thrown and missed with a molotov cocktail. Then he shot the brawler in the head. From that point forward, it looked to all observers like he had just murdered someone. He fled the scene, at some point people followed in pursuit, he tripped, people tried to disarm him, and he shot multiple people. Different circumstances, both trigger happy.
Interesting take, RNC...

@saramarylop3z The Fair Housing Act was interrupted a year later by the newly-elected Nixon when he shut down George Romney who tried to faithfully implement the law. There's been no progress since. Chicago, for instance, just settled a 50-year old housing discrimination lawsuit.

There's a long history of this sort of thing, and these protests are nothing compared to those in the past.

WilyRickWiles replies on Aug 6, 2020:
@ThomasinaPaine At the core of your rhetoric and political position seems to be the question of whether the word racist is a noun or an adjective. If it's a noun, as the right would have us believe, it's an accusation tantamount to a death sentence, and used in service of witch hunts. Why do they want that? Because they need to frame movements for equality as the enemy who work to unjustly victimize the "great men" who make history. If it's an adjective, as the left would have us believe, your rhetoric falls apart. For example, an instance of racism is being anti-black. Your logic would have us believe that someone who is anti-black is actually black. Honest anti-racist people recognize how racism has influenced them and how they have done or said racist things. They criticize behavior and systems. To make it a noun requires a demonstrable pattern of intent by an individual. @OnDaL00kOut And to clarify, the "Trump gestapo" stuff is a response to the federal agents, mostly from the border patrol that Trump deployed first in Washington, DC and then Portland, who have brutalized and kidnapped protesters beyond the walls of federal buildings. He has postured about sending agents elsewhere in response to protests, but so far Operation Legend is similar to past temporary surges of mostly FBI agents to combat gun violence.
Trump doesn't take credit for low crime like he did low unemployment. Why?

So lets be clear, over all since 2010, crime rates have been way down, but trump making comments about the recent spike in violent crimes that this data has not even recorded makes you upset?
WilyRickWiles replies on Aug 6, 2020:
@OnDaL00kOut The President selects the Chairman (in fact Trump replaced a relatively new Chairman during his term) and Governors and can set policy for the Department of the Treasury, which works in conjunction with the Fed on different programs. The Fed has been authorized to buy municipal debt just as it has for Treasuries, mortgage securities, and even corporate debt now. It is simply a matter of the President or Congress making it a priority. Local governments are in a bad spot because 1. Decades ago, when Congress insured private pensions and set minimum contributions and investment criteria, it did not do the same for public pensions, and 2. They have had to spend and ask questions later to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nathan Tankus has done some of the best coverage on the Fed and their response (and its potential). https://nathantankus.substack.com

WilyRickWiles replies on Aug 5, 2020:
@OnDaL00kOut The alarmism is classic demagoguery. It's whips up Trump's base. There is nothing new about how Mayors are responding. My mayor, for example, has responded by increasing heavy-handed policing tactics and welcoming Trump's "Operation Legend." Like I said elsewhere, though, those tactics have been tried before and won't make a meaningful difference to the neighborhoods that bear the brunt of violent crime. They need to address root causes, and that requires the Federal Reserve to ease state and local budgets at minimum.

@ThomasinaPaine Of course in a nation of laws with elections, that force is abstracted and democratized, albeit imperfectly. Which is more than you can say would be the case if the state's monopoly of force were formally split among the powerful interests of the status quo.

@ThomasinaPaine I'm not about that respectability politics or trying to police movements. Human rights are fundamental. I disagree that the question was "clean and clear." It certainly was not objective. It uncritically reused a racist photo from a "blue lives matter" website and included implicit negative judgments about the victim and BLM and positive judgments about the officers. Yes, one sometimes needs to be controversial to get people's attention and prompt a debate, but they should understand and be honest about their own point of view.

WilyRickWiles replies on Aug 4, 2020:
@Admin For one, I'd ask you to think about why you selected that particular frame from the video, the one that probably best represents racist tropes about Black people. Second, the language you use to describe protesters and their positions is aggressive, unconventional, vague, and often debatable, as with "contributed to his tragic death," "polarizing violent protests," "racist killer behavior," "resisting arrest," "does this matter," and "leveraging 'proof of police racism' to incite." It betrays an anger, perhaps unconscious, at protesters. Moreover, your use of emotionally charged content devoid of an argument suggests you're looking to elicit a racist pile-on from the white nationalists you know are a large part of your community.
