Yamiche Alcindor tries to gotcha Kayleigh McEnany on statues, gets schooled- [redstate.com]
coalburned comments on Jun 23, 2020:
Statues represent historical figures and events, but my question is, do we learn our history from statues or from books and other educational avenues? Those who tear down statues aren't erasing history. They're committing acts of vandalism. They love the drama and get swept away by emotion, but to what end? It doesn't change history. Statues are erected because they represent something. If it represents something a particular group doesnt like, and thus deserves to be torn down, then all statues should be fair game. Should we excuse this whole mess as angry people doing what angry people do? I thought we were more civilized than that. If people want to remove a statue, go through the petition process. You'll gain a lot more respect that way.
Cancel culture is glorified cyberbullying, and it will end in tragedy- [redstate.com]
coalburned comments on Jun 23, 2020:
I'm one of those who believes our society is becoming increasingly evil, so I view the cancel culture with considerable contempt. I see it as bullying on steroids, or bullying taken to the extreme. Both are cowardly and despicable, but the cancel culture is more vicious and isn't limited to the age group we normally associate with bullying. It's arguably the most extreme form of cowardice I see today, and I despise those who employ it.

It's your job, so you have a responsibility to perform it, but these are unique circumstances. Before going back in, I would have to know how many other officers will be on duty around the clock and the specific conditions under which I could use deadly force. I'd have to know the city had my back, and in Seattle that's a tough sell. If I didn't feel I could properly defend myself and protect others, I'd have no choice but to resign. But saying no or shirking my duties while still being paid? Uh-uh.

coalburned comments on Jun 22, 2020:
I'm so angry about how that situation has been handled. Go ahead, SJW's, make all the judgements you want. I dare you to put yourself in a position where you have to subdue someone, struggle with them rather than use deadly force right away, have them point a taser at you, and then have to make a split second decision on whether or not to defend yourself from being incapacitated (painfully, I might add) and allowing someone to run off with a police taser and possibly use it to threaten or harm someone else. Mr. Howard should be ashamed of himself. Part of me says let's just pull police out of urban areas and let madness prevail.

I think it's a ridiculous term (along with dozens of others that have been coined in the past few years, sadly). Absolutely correct. Reading their statement of beliefs, I can only conclude this is an organization that hates men and traditional family values, wants to dismiss (cancel, in today's jargon) everything this country stands for (yes, I'm still a patriot), and is exploiting the problems blacks are struggling with. They've callously appropriated legitimate black concerns in order to promote their own radical left agenda.

Tucker nails it on this one. People better wake up soon and realize what's going on here. We're being duped into denying the principles our country was founded on and have guided the American way of life for over 240 years. The minute I heard the phrase "black lives matter" I knew something was amiss. People don't throw out no-brainer catchphrases like that unless there's an underlying agenda. We now know what that agenda is. It's not about improving black lives. It's about fundamentally changing our way of life, and if it succeeds, blacks will be miserable. Imagine being 15% of the population and then realize that, under socialism, self-determination has vanished.

coalburned comments on Jun 14, 2020:
I agree it's a bad idea to defund the police. I'd rather see increased funding to be used for more comprehensive training and pay increases. Get rid of unions and departmental policies that discourage departments from weeding out the problem children...and every force has them. Require officers to live in the communities they police unless it's not possible to staff enough qualified officers. If communities don't want police, let them figure out their own solution within a given time frame and continue to provide protection in the interim. I hear what you're saying about let them reap what they sow, and it's tempting, but those communities probably have elderly/disabled folks who are afraid to speak up in favor of the police, much less defend themselves.

After wandering around for the better part of 10 years, I finally found a church of about 80 members where no one pretends they're anything but forgiven. But I'm guessing DiAngelo thinks only whites are racist, and the only way to solve racial issues is to allow others to tell us what constitutes racism, how we inevitably and inextricably exhibit racist behavior, and that we're forever bound by rules we don't set. DiAngelo implies we're all racist whether we like it or not, as though it's a function of our skin color. Sorry, not buying it.

The thought of moving someplace rural sounds better by the day. I have little patience for violent radicals of any flavor.

I'm undecided about the ultimate goal, but I absolutely believe both events were orchestrated. At a minimum, when I take the impeachment proceedings into consideration, too, I think this is simply an attempt to get rid of Trump. There are people who hate him so much they couldn't care less about others' suffering. However, I can't rule out the possibility of a grander scheme where some very powerful people want to destroy capitalism, create chaos, and usher in a one-world, socialist govt. I'm not inclined to fully embrace conspiracy theories of that magnitude, but I don't dismiss them. I think it's important to be vigilant, especially in these times where evil is expanding and evolving in ways we've not seen in our lifetimes.

What would you suggest Donald Trump do to have a positive resolution to the BLM/Defund Police/ANTIFA...
coalburned comments on Jun 12, 2020:
Let's see. He already proposed flagging Antifa as a terrorist group, so we'll see where that goes. BLM is a false front, designed to distort and distract, and has no interest in actually helping the black community, so I would ignore them. That leaves defunding the police. Can't really do that...the government has a responsibility to protect its citizens. I guess I'll have to go with police department reform, starting with the unions and internal policies that protect incompetent officers (there aren't many bad apples, but man do they create issues). Every career field has people that don't belong. In the case of police, it's just like with doctors...the misfits need to be weeded out mercilessly. Oh, and for cryin' out loud, would y'all start leaving your body cams on?
What happened in Hillary Clinton's 1975 rape case? - YouTube
coalburned comments on Jun 12, 2020:
When I look at this objectively I have to blame the prosecutors for doing a lousy job. Clinton did hers, and if nothing else, this video serves as a good example of how driven that woman is to win. When viewed subjectively, my blood boils. A decent defense atty does his/her best to win a case. A decent human being doesn't gloat about the misfortunes of others.
The last I heard Jordan was recovering from an illness. Has anyone heard anything more recent?
coalburned comments on Jun 12, 2020:
Just a quick update. I just listened to an interview Suzanne Venker did last month with Jordan's daughter, Mikhaila. She said Jordan has finished his latest book (release date tbd) and he's resting up, hoping to return to public life sometime this fall at the earliest, January 2021 at the latest. I don't think he'll return to the grueling schedule of previous years, but it'll be good to have him back in some capacity.
