I must not be one of the "most people". First, I agree with waveoflight, that we need to define 'soul'. The "best" definition of soul, I've found, was Watchman Nee's many years ago, when I read his book, Spiritual Man. If I recall correctly, he said, within the soul are the mind (intellect), will, and emotion. That part of us (living creatures) that thinks, chooses and feels. If that is the definition, then, of course, anyone who knows animals knows they have a soul, which is a conclusion even God agrees with!

The God that I doubt seems ever so much greater to me than the god that most atheists don't believe ...

I don't know what "binary" means in the context of your question, other than either or, as in Should we sacrifice people, or the economy with our policies regarding the threat of coronavirus to both? An economy is what produces wealth, which is needed, or wanted, for people to live. Food, (a part of wealth) for example, is needed for people to live. Without it being produced, how would people live? With no food available, the people would starve to death. So, if one were to shut down the economy that produces food, it would only be a matter of time before everyone died. So, everyone dies of coronavirus or everyone dies of starvation. Not a binary choice.

I am not to sure why people are so concerned about where COVID-19 started, I am more concerned about...
