They're trying to squirm out of the loss. Why does Robinhood allow selling and not buying? Because Melvin needs to buy, because they're on the hook for coughing up shares. Robinhood declared that Melvin has the privilege of buying and everyone else doesn't. Robinhood forbids buying because it would drive up the price, hurting Melvin, because Melvin still has to buy. The Reddit team won because they were first to realize a short squeeze is possible. Anyone who was on the Reddit team prospered. Now that word is out, the entire world will be looking to capitalize on this short squeeze opportunity. Robinhood sells the data on its user's trades so that oligarchs can use it for insider trading.
