Never forget that the election of 2020 was a farce
jaymaron comments on Jan 31, 2021:
It's a religious schism. Republicans feel that Trump won the election and that democrats stole it. Democrats feel the election wasn't stolen. It's irreconcilable, especially since democrats are ruling with the style of "tyranny of the majority". Democrats have formally made America an apartheid state. All constitutions, no matter how wisely constructed to defend against tyranny of the majority, will ultimately fail and majority tyranny will happen. The only way out is secession.

jaymaron comments on Jan 31, 2021:
For subs, stealth is important. Battery power is silent and AIP and nuclear are noisy. They both involve turbines. A sub should have a bigass battery, regardless of the propulsion system. If a sub is on defense duty and doesn't need range, then AIP is fine.

Platinum, palladium, and rhodium will always have value because they are the best catalysts. Caesium formate is the best drilling lubricant. As long as there is oil and natural gas drilling, there will be a demand for caesium. It's hilarious because rhodium and palladium are abundant in burnt nuclear fuel, and this might make them economically extractable from burnt fuel. Also, a fission reactor can create rhodium, palladium, iridium, osmium, and platinum by neutron transmutation. The explosion of platinum group prices makes reactors more profitable. Baffled that we aren't using reactors for transmutation. We need new reactor designs for reactors that both produce power and transmute elements. Fission generates neutrons and it's senseless to let them go to waste. Nuke baby nuke!
Biden is not the one calling the shots. What is the behind-the-curtain power structure?
jaymaron comments on Jan 29, 2021:
The CCP is a prime power. There is no check on CCP power. Pirate billionaires have power but they are not prime powers. The proof is that they bent the knee to the CCP. This is baffling because the pirate billionaires like to destroy rival powers. The way to oppose the CCP is to support American politicians that are anti-CCP. All democrats are pro-CCP and so you need to support republicans. Many wars are over markets. The CCP's power is their control over the Chinese market. Quite evil because China is an apartheid state, with the CCP exploiting the non-CCP Chinese. If you have compromising information on a politician, you have power over him. There is plenty of well-known kompromat on Biden but the mainstream media doesn't report it. Media oligarchs can extort Biden by threating to report it. I hypothesize that the media oligarchs are extorting Biden. Honor is power. An example of honor for politicians is having the reputation for faithfully representing the constituency. Representationship is a high skill. Trump has this power. Democrats think that once they win an election that they can do whatever they want, forgetting that there will be another election. Now that elections are meaningless they will never again act in the interests of the voters. Musk has power because he's in the business of creating stuff, whereas corporations like Amazon make money by manipulating the industry. Musk launches twice as much mass into space as NASA and he has the best launch cost in the world in terms of $/kg. Space is power and Musk has space power. Musk ditched California for Texas and courageously denounces censorship. Musk might be our only hope. The FAA canceled a SpaceX launch. They have that power, which means they can use it to extort SpaceX. Scary. In "The Art of the Deal", Trump describes how politicians extorted him with regulations. The left wants to take away Trump's power by framing him as a Nazi. This gives Trump more power because it increases his status with republicans. Trump is the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Trump took on suffering to fight for us. Now that Obama is term limited, the only power he has is as a collusion nexus. To collude, you need a nexus. The Clinton Foundation was a collusion nexus. Intelligence is power, specifically the ability to think of useful new ideas. This is absent in the democratic party. Nothing they do is intelligent. Trump is unquestionably original. Gingrich stated that Trump solved problems that he didn't think could be solved. Independence is power as long as you aren't under threat of invasion. It feels like the only way forward is for states to declare independence. Democrats feel that they have the military power to crush a seceded state....

If the Taiwanese truly grasped the reality that they could be invaded, Taiwanese citizens would be arming. If China invades, the only chance Taiwan has is to make a big fuss with guerrilla warfare and bring the rest of the world on to their side. Every citizen needs to get lots of guns and ammunition, and the government needs to build a stash of heavy weapons to hand out in case of invasion. We should send American gun connoisseurs to Taiwan to inspire them. American gun manufacturers should advertise in Taiwan. Play American westerns in Taiwanese theaters. Play "The Expendables". Play "The Alamo" so that they understand the importance of an ammunition stockpile. Taiwan needs to expand its military. They need to buy as much as possible of: Electric subs. Cheap fighter aircraft that can carry lots of missiles. Flood the sky with them. It's all about missiles. Missiles, of all kinds. Air-air, ground-air, air-ground, ground-ground. War drones. Radar and sonar. Flood the ocean with submarine detectors. Torpedoes. Be able to detect and destroy any Chinese sub or surface ship within 100 km of Taiwan. Mobile command centers, with lots of them on subs. Taiwan needs the deterrent of a credible counterstrike on China. Taiwan needs nukes. At the very least, they need firebombing missiles installed on electric subs. Taiwan is training for an invasion. They trained using roads as runways. The Hong Kong protesters didn't have guns. Alas. The best they had was archery equipment obtained from sporting goods stores. The Pacific needs a NATO-style military alliance. Perhaps the "PAcific Treaty Organization". An attack on one is an attack on all. Taiwan needs to grasp that if China invades, Biden won't help them.

jaymaron comments on Jan 28, 2021:
The true value of electric vehicles is not energy, it's stealth. It's impossible to make a small gasoline vehicle quiet. A large vehicle can have mass for soundproofing and a small vehicle can't. The future of cities is small electric vehicles, and cities will be uninhabitable if they're gasoline powered. I predict that a smart city will base its vehicle policy on sound, not energy. A smart city would go all-electric for the sake of silence. Excessive noise is bad for the brain. After cities collapse, we may see a future that is mobile, where land yachts travel from campground to campground, seeking the silence of the wilderness. It's a myth that public transport is better than individual transport. Light electric vehicles use less energy than public transportation, plus public transportation costs unnecessary money because you have to pay public employees. Also, individual vehicles can travel point-to-point and public transportation can't. Article: jaymaron.com/vehicle.html https://www.jaymaron.com/vehicles.html

A battery costs .01 MJoule/$, can be recharged 1000 times. Hence, 1 $ of battery delivers 10 MJoules over its lifetime. The cost of electricity is 36 MJoules/$. The cost of gasoline is 50 MJoules/$. The efficiency of a gasoline engine is 20%, and so the effective cost of gasoline, in terms of energy delivered to the road, is 10 MJoules/$. Battery cars are 90% efficient for delivering electric energy to the road. For simplicity we assume it's 100%. Conclusion: If you replace a gasoline engine with a battery, the battery costs as much as the fuel that the gasoline engine would have used. The electricity is an added cost. A battery decays toward the end of its life, and its energy/mass goes down. Gasoline engines retain their full power up until the point where they fail. Leftists are afraid of gasoline. They miss out. An electric car can be equipped with a detachable generator. In sport mode, detach the generator. In long-distance mode, the generator can power the car at highway speed for as long as you have fuel. Electric vehicles: jaymaron.com/vehicle.html https://www.jaymaron.com/vehicle.html

The general question is: how to help farmers? Attack the source. The government should goose the farming industry to increase production, and to decrease farming costs. Ways that the government can goose the farming industry: Provide Indian farmers with free access to patented seeds. Negotiate a deal with America, the king of seed patents. Indian farmers can then produce their own seeds. Goose the plastic pipe industry, so that farmers can install underground irrigation. This makes better use of water than surface irrigation. Build aqueducts. You need to ship water long distance because the rivers are highly polluted. Build nuclear reactors to power the aqueducts. Build water reservoirs. India can be farmed all year, whereas the rain season is only part of the year. India built the Kalpasar reservoir by damming an estuary, and India is building more reservoirs. Develop thorium nuclear power. India has vast thorium. India has 23 Institutes of Technology is hustling to develop thorium reactors. Streamline the regulatory process to make the reactor cheap. Goose the fertilizer industry. Use nuclear power to produce nitrogen fertilizer. Make deals with countries that have phosphorus and potassium (Australia and Israel). Eliminate tax on fuel. Goose the farming machine industry. Number of people that 1 km^2 of land can support: Hunter-gatherers 1 18th Century European farmers: 10 20th Century American farmers: 50 (Mechanization, fertilizer, genetic engineering, pesticides) Hydroponics: 200 The population density on Indian farmland is 1000 people/km^2. They don't want the Indian government to interfere in local government. Cancellation of laws that encourage large corporations over small farmers. This issue is coplex hard to quantify. Release of those arrested in the Punjabi Tea Party incident. A requirement that the government buy farming produce at a "minimum support price", and the farmers demand that the MSP be 50% more than the cost of production. This is a ridiculous socialistic demand that will backfire on the farmers. It punishes good farmers and rewards poor farmers. 50% is a ludicrously high number.

The job of the president is to make allies. It makes sense to be allies with Canada. There's much synergy. Biden is hurting Canada. Biden doesn't want allies. The job of the president is to promote jobs for Americans. Energy creates jobs. Biden killed jobs. Canada has vast reserves of potassium, oil, natural gas, water, hydropower, trees, nickel, cobalt, platinum-group metals, niobium, copper, gold, uranium, thorium, and hockey players. America should kiss Canada's ass. There are only two good platinum mines in the world. Cobalt is a conflict metal. The pipeline was a business deal, and Alberta already spent 1 billion dollars on it. If you reneg on a business deal, you better do something to make up for it. Biden isn't. Biden is telling the world that he's a bad businessman. Nobody will want to do business with Biden. In Trump's book "Art of the Deal" he discusses at length the importance of honor in business deals. Vulcan proverb: Only Nixon could go to China. Many wars are over control of markets. The job of the president is to open foreign markets to Americans. Biden surrendered to the Chinese and weakened America's clout. America no longer possesses the clout necessary to compel countries to open markets. The job of the president is to make life better for all Americans, and to court votes. Biden said in his inauguration: There is a rise of political extremism, white supremacy, domestic terrorism, that we must confront and we will defeat. Biden declared war on half of America. Biden doesn't want votes. Doesn't need them anymore. Hillarious that Trudeau has no spine and Alberta Premier Kenney does.

CANZUK a future nation?
jaymaron comments on Jan 21, 2021:
D'Souza has a great video where he analyzes history from the perspective of power. He points out that small nations have to either bend the knee to a large power, or band together with other small nations against the large power. European history can be summarized as: Whenever a nation got too powerful, the rest of Europe ganged up on them and pounded them back down. The word "coalition" appears in the name of many European wars. The two great powers are USA and China. What happened is unprecedented. The great power USA simply surrendered to China without a fight. What do you think the Global Coalition will look like? There are some countries that are stoutly conservative, such as Poland. There are also countries such as Canada that are half conservative and half leftist. For these countries, we need a secession party and we only want the conservative half. America and Canada should have a secession party, and Red America should merge with Red Canada to form Camerica. The best way to fight China is with a full-scale trade war, which only works if you have a large coalition. China is in a weak position for a trade war. If everyone courageously stops buying Chinese stuff, they're toast. We can get the same stuff from places like India or the Philippines. China doesn't have enough food. They must import. A food boycott would make the CCP look bad to the Chinese people. China boycotted Australian food and there was an outcry from the Chinese people. In Civil War I, after The South seceded, no foreign countries recognized them. When America declared independence in 1776, they had the support of France. The video emphasizes the importance of a common culture. Rugby unifies. China is small potatoes in the rugby world.

Democrats bullied republicans for years with "whataboutism". They stated that if Trump lost the election, he would stage a military coup and declare himself dictator. Democrats used this to bully Republicans. They are on record. Trump left the White House without a fuss, hence Democrats owe Republicans an apology. I plan to bring this up every time Democrats attack Trump. Biden summoned 26000 troops to DC and expelled Republicans from the National Guard. Biden would have lost the election if Democrats hadn't cheated. These are the moves of a dictator. Democrats focused their firepower on Trump. Republicans now have a focus of firepower. Mock Biden incessantly. The presidency is a hard job. Trump is renowned for outworking everyone around him. He did this even though he's old, doesn't drink, and doesn't smoke. Trump endured 4 hard years of the presidency and still looks fresh, sharp, and witty. Biden looks like he's already broken down. He will not survive 4 years of the presidency unless he does what he did during his candidacy, which is to do nothing. Wilson was incapacitated by a stroke and Democrats hid him from the public. For the last 2 years of his presidency, Wilson was a vegetable and few knew it. Biden's inauguration speech declared war on Republicans. "There is a rise of political extremism, white supremacy, domestic terrorism, that we must confront and we will defeat." Biden is reminiscent of King Charles II of Spain and the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714). Charles was inbred and demented, but the Spanish royalists propped him up because they were afraid of non-royalist factions. Charles was never educated because royalists were afraid it would tax his frail brain.

Growing 1 kg of biomass requires, in grams, Nitrogen 15 Potassium 15 Phosphorus 2 Calcium 2 Magnesium 2 Sulfur 2 Nitrogen can be obtained from Martian air. Potassium is found wherever there is sodium salt. Mars had water and it's likely that there are sodium salt deposits. Endorheic basins such as the Utah Salt Lake basin create massive salt deposits. On Earth, phosphorus deposits are rare, and they were created by large-scale photosynthesis. You're unlikely to find extractable phosphorus on Mars. Calcium, magnesium, and sulfur are abundant in Mars' crust and won't be a problem. If I were going to Mars I would bring a massive stash of tripotassium phosphate, just to be sure. Mars has no ozone layer. You need a glass greenhouse to stop the UV. But you can't use Martian sunlight because Mars is flooded with cosmic ray radiation. Mars' magnetic field and atmosphere are too weak to stop them. Stopping cosmic rays requires a meter of rock. A Mars colony has to be underground, and to grow food you need LED lights. On Earth, the source of metals are minerals. Minerals concentrate elements. Mineral formation requires water and geologic activity, both of which Mars once had. It's possible that Mars has minerals. The moon never had water or geologic activity. There are no minerals on the moon. No more science missions. The next mission to Mars should be a prospecting mission for potassium, phosphorus, and minerals. We should send rovers with bigass drills. Power them with radioisotope batteries so they have the energy to move and drill. The present Mars rovers don't cover much ground or dig very deep because they're powered by solar cells. There is a science paper by Kelvin Leibold comparing farming costs for Iowa and Brazil. American farmers pay a lot for land and seeds. Brazilian land is cheap and they evaded the seed cost by genetically engineering their own seeds. Gates owns massive shares in Monsanto, which produces genetically engineered seeds. American farmers can't compete unless they buy price-gouged genetically engineered seeds. There is no competition in the seed world because Monsanto owns the patents. If I were president I would open up the seed patents for use by American farmers. Killing dumbass patents is a great way to redistribute wealth. Baffled that democrats haven't thought of it. Oh, wait, they're not doing it because they sold out to corporations, and patents are what holds monopolies together. If things are going well, farmers own their own farm. If things are going poorly, corporations own the farms and farmers are slaves on a plantation. If Gates were a true philanthropist, he would divide the land and give it to individual farmers. He would command Monsanto to release the seed patents to Americans. Democrats love to bash slavery. Democrat oligarchs create slave plantations. There is no law and order in cities. The future of America is rural land. Gates bought 880 km^2 of land. He spent a billion dollars. Starbucks is an empire dedicated to acquiring as much storefront space in cities as possible. They thought that city land was what's important. Bit them in the ass. Cities are dying, from mob violence and from the exodus of the wealthy. A typical Starbucks is uninhabitable because of rude people. The vast empire that Starbucks built is worthless. I consider Smil's books to be great, and they are similar in content to my biomass engineering textbook. jaymaron.com/earth.html https://www.jaymaron.com/earth.html America once had a fine sense of frontiersmanship. In the gold rush era it was hard to get to the frontier, but Americans did it. They got all the way to the Yukon. Today we have aircraft and freeways. No excuse for not getting to the frontier. The future of America is the rural frontier. A nuclear reactor can deliver water to the vast dry areas of America, which opens a new frontier. In the frontier age it was possible to be an independent miner. All you needed was a pan. Today you have to be part of a large mining corporation. America's greatest natural resource is energy. We need to find a way to bust up the mining corporations and empower individuals in the mining industry. The photo is of Klondike, Yukon, 1896. Today, there's probably a ski lift on that mountain.

The F-35 is meant for offense, because it's stealth. It's also expensive. Many countries need only defense, such as Australia, , India, Taiwan, Japan, etc. If you need only defense, then it's better to a large of cheap planes and fill the sky with them. lots of missiles of all types. air-air, ground-air, air-ground, ground-ground. Fill the ocean with small battery-powered subs. If you are on defense then you don't need the range of a nuclear sub. Stealth planes are hard to detect with one radar because they're designed to not reflect back to the radar, but if you have many radars then they can be detected. You can then detect reflections in other directions. Fill the land with radar.

Hence they can't be said to be courageous. They were more like terrorists. Unconstructive. Unsynergistic. Today, counterculture republicans cannot participate in society. They are banned from the football team. Being counterculture takes real courage, courage not possessed by leftists. From leftist revolutions emerge dumbasses. Leftists come from the bottom of the barrel. From conservative revolutions emerge heroic patriots. Conservatives come from the cream of the crop. It's the cycle of history. Everyone who is on record for courageously standing up for conservatism can virtue signal. They have tropic privilege. They have palm trees and Canada has tundra. Sea level has erased 50000 km^2 of land but humans have created 25000 km^2 of new land. In WW2, the difference between Japan and the Soviet Union was that Japan was unified under the emperor. When the emperor surrendered, the entire nation of Japan respected it and allowed America to rule. America ruled benevolently, rebuilt Japan's economy, and restored Japan's independence. Japan went on to become our firm ally and a world leader in technology. They also make great movies. This would not be possible with the Soviet Union because it was ungovernable. The only thing keeping it together was the formidable threat of Germany. It was corrupt and it was an apartheid state, with members of the communist party having special privilege. The question is not if a nation is good or evil. The question is how corrupt it is. Corrupt nations are dangerous. If I had been president in WW2 I would have negotiated an alliance with the Japanese emperor. He would be amenable to an alliance because America had The Bomb. If the emperor were to say: Americans and Japanese are allies now", the Japanese would respect it. The true threat is corruption in the Soviet Union. The goal of America, the UK, and Japan should have been to compel the Soviet Union to reform.

Nice set of numbers. For the Falcon rocket, the engines are 40% of the cost. One engine is $2 million, there are 27 engines, the payload is 64 tons, and the launch cost is $150 million. The payload cost is 2340 $/kg and the engines contribute $900/kg. SpaceX pioneered the methane engine, which has a higher exhaust speed (3.7 km/s) than traditional kerosene (3.3 km/s). Now others are using methane. You can't use hydrogen for the ground state because the density of liquid hydrogen is too low. For the ground, the options are kerosene, methane, and solid fuel (2.5 km/s). The Stratolaunch aircraft launches a rocket from high altitude, giving it a speed boost. A ground rocket has to plow through the atmosphere, and it has to go up before it can go sideways. Air launch bypasses most of the atmosphere, and the rocket can go sideways immediately. Vertical lift comes from wings. A ground rocket has to get to orbit as fast as possible. Every second not being at orbital speed costs you fuel. This means a ground rocket needs to accelerate at more than 2 g, hence it needs lots of expensive engines. Air launch allows you to take your time getting to orbit and requires fewer engines. With air launch you can use cheap solid rockets instead of expensive methane rockets. In km/s, Equator speed .45 Aircraft speed .27 Orbit speed 7.8 Air launch currently uses a commercial aircraft moving at .27 km/s (Mach .9). We should develop a ramjet air launch that moves at 1.5 km/s (Mach 5). Ramjets are a mature and simple technology. Baffled that we haven't already done this. Another competing launch scheme is rail launch, but the rail has to be ludicrously long. Ramjet launch is better than rail launch. Rail launch is perfect, however, for the moon. A Soyuz re-entry capsule is 3 tons. That's the minimum mass for bringing people back to Earth. There's no need for the re-entry capsule to be heavier than that. The Space Shuttle has a mass of 93 tons, which is senseless. The prime natural resource in space is lunar ice. Ice can be used for rocket fuel, life support, and radiation shielding. The first move is to mine lunar ice and bring it to low Earth orbit. You want as much fuel at LEO as possible, for satellite station keeping, and for promoting LEO satellites to geostationary orbit. Don't try to get to GEO right away. First get to LEO and then refuel with lunar ice. Another prime natural resource in space is iron, which comes from metal asteroid craters on the moon. We should be prospecting the moon for these. Iron asteroids also contain platinum group metals. A 100 meter sized iron asteroid has 1 billion dollars in platinum group metals. The Earth has 2 good platinum mines and they're both metal asteroid ...
