"And above all, avoid the main stream media like the plague! Their fear mongering is doing more to harm the nation’s health than any virus ever could! Boost your immune system and laugh at Covid-19 and all the cowering sheeple you see furtively scurrying about with their masks on."

I had my doubts when the "KUNG-FLU" scare first started!!! It took me about two weeks to figure out that it was all BS!!!!

That quote sums up a topic that has been on my mind a lot lately. At some point in the near future I hope to get some discussion going about how we can remain informed while completely divesting ourselves from the mainstream media. We are being lied to, extensively, every single day. Fear-mongering is at an all-time high, with the media exploiting the innate negativity biases that are part of our survival mechanism. We can't stop their behavior, but we can change ours.

I have to agree. Not really sure how to do this but for sure it is damaging our health and our perspective. Lately I've been trying to just back the F off of all media and concentrate more on real life and what I now want to do with it. Been sucked in way too long at this point, doesn't help when you are also at the end of so many life chapters and trying to figure how best to author the next chapter in the overall shit show we find ourselves in. I'll be interested in comments to both your posting as well as mine which adds a bit of a kink (re chapters).

@torontogal4388 I agree,, and I can relate to what you mean about getting sucked away from real life. I've found backing off major news outlets to be easy, and this site is my only social media outlet. I don't do FB, Twitter, Instagram, etc. I drop off from here from time to time if I feel like my perspective is getting out of balance. But overall it's been good. I find almost everyone here to be interesting and well-intentioned. There are a few loonies, and we've had one or two troublemakers, but the members are pretty good at taking care of them. One thing for sure...you'll get a lot of different perspectives, and that's what I find valuable. I just wish I could find one or two outlets that provide thoughtful, truthful, and objective news analysis.
