I am so sorry to hear about your friends. Listen, I live in America and while many other countries and/or cultures view this country as evil, I must also remind folks that there is evil in EVERY country and culture. Most days, I feel exactly as the Scripture says, this world is not my home. This, I can imagine is exactly as Messiah felt. Rest assured, I can identify with some of your frustration with mankind and 'modern Christians'.
Every man will account for every idle word spoken on that great and terrible day of the Lord.
Be blessed.
This post makes me realise I probably don't know how to make friends, or my friend-making skills are rusty or poor. All the friends I used to have at school and university have dropped away, or moved away, one by one, as have those I was friendly with in the various jobs I have had. That leaves only my wife, who has been a constant best friend ever since just a few days after I met her. I do have some internet friends who are various relatives or people I used to work with, but in a way they don't count, as we are now separated by distance.
In the past people did not move very far from where they were born. This meant you usually grew up as a member of a group of children about your age. You saw them every day, played with them, went to school with them, fought them etc. When you started work you would often work with them. Your shared experiences and the time you spent with them allowed you the time to learn how to make them your friends. In effect they became an extended family and your friends.
In the modern world we rarely stay in one place for that long. Our children can rarely play together in the street (too dangerous - cars, sexual predators, overprotective parentd etc.). In any case there are too many attractions now, indoors, television, videos computer games, mobile phones and the internet.
Is it any wonder people nowadays have few friends and find making friends dificult?
Every group I was a part of was broken up after a few years. The other kids who lived near me and went to Infants (Kindergarten) school with me were rehoused (UK in the 1950s) one group gone. My next group was in Junior school and after four years this group was broken up and we were split up between a large number of secondary schools. Another group gone. This was repeated in secondary school except we were split up by the jobs we could get which were scattered accross the city. And how many people stay in a job any length of time nowadays?
So do not feel bad you only have a few friends or even one, with current social arrangements it is what you woulsexpect.
Berman gone NYSD and a week later Maxwell is arrested. The storm is coming!
Trump 2020! WWG1WGA!
True. An old boss of mine once said, "A friend is someone who will get up at three in the morning, and come to the police station to post bail for me."
@M1959 Is that what happened to you?
