The issue has never been stated to imply it cannot be done in the timetable left prior to election, the statement being made is that there is a long precedent set, which incidentally was fully embraced by Republicans and called upon when the situation served their needs, to not appoint new justices in an election year, especially once campaigning has been done. They can ignore that precedent, but they should then fully own their hypocrisy and not try to bury it under bullshit. No one is going to be shocked to find politicians whom lack any semblance of integrity. You know, that thing that says just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

As if Democrats have not made late appointments. They have. So if you're honest you will admit that whatever "agreement" made to avoid late appointments has been abandoned by both sides. It is hypocrisy to claim Republicans have been the ones to abandon such an agreement. It is neither law, nor common sense that Republicans should not do the same as have Democrats already - in fact in the last administration.

Are you like the leadership of the Democrat party, willing to lie and misrepresent the truth? One of their favorite lies is that all politicians lie - as if it is somehow OK. That is so their own lies seem reasonable to you. Well I have news for you. Those representing the Constitution are NOT liars. That means only Democrats and a few lying and calling themselves Republicans when they are not, are the liars and deceivers. And so are you if you assert the same thing.

@TimTuolomne Precisely as I said before, and as you've wonderfully illustrated, no one actually expects to see any integrity from the right on this issue. The Republicans set this precedent. The only proper response is to follow their own precedent. The fact that it's immediately rationalized away with a bunch of BS noise shows exactly what the party now consists of. And it sure ain't admirable.

@Amzungu. I am not a bit surprised that you haven't responded to what I wrote, and asserted that I have proved your point, even though I proved you mistaken. This discussion is ended.

@TimTuolomne Address your twisted version of 'truth'? Yeah, no desire or point in engaging that. Walk on.

With the passing of Ginsburg, the rule of law now has a chance to return to the Representative Republic of the United States of America.

Yes, but they were liberals. There are different rules for conservatives.
