When I hear a call for censoring, I suspect one of two things.

  1. They expect the gatekeeper to like them and always take their part.
  2. They expect to be one of the gatekeepers.

BTW, if Stelter starts his own news site like Glenn Beck or Shapiro and the rest he could do all the "censoring" of content he wished since he'd be editing and selecting the materials. But that is not what he wants from the sound of it.
Stelter wants--not just to own or control his own news outlet/channel/magazine. But to control everything on the air or in print around the globe--or at least the western hemisphere. Nothing grandiose or authoritarian about that desire of course.
IMO, it's not just the overweening arrogance and desire to lord it over the rabble, but the legacy media's concern of inability to compete with fresh, young faces in the arena. Rather than adapt or change to please viewership they prefer fighting dirty and bribing Big Tech to take down rivals. Not just conservatives YT is demonitizing or shadowing. Anything not owned by big corporations. Hence its acquiescence to Fox News--though Fox is no longer anything but left wing it still has an undeserved reputation to the detriment of its hopes of stealing CNN viewers.

obviously that is the case - but it often becomes necessary to state the obvious and to do so loudly and clearly.

Well, I think before you get to the question of 'who is the gatekeeper', you have to have a premise worthy of discussion. And the concept of free speech doesn't accept the premise that a gatekeeper should exist in the first place.

So, per usual, the premise is not agreed to. The discussion is moot.

it is apparent to me that that is her point. the question "who's going to be the gatekeeper" is rhetorical and posited in response to Stelters ridiculous diatribe about controlling speech of people with whom he doesn't like.
